The G2 Pulls Gold Military Pins From Super Trashy Site :teknetics:

I don't know how I found the first gold pin. I was passing up low VDI numbers left and right looking for silver coins. I was ignoring hundreds of the them. For some reason I decided to dig a bouncy 40 to 60 VDI number. It was loud and crisp. To my surprise, out pops a what I first thought was a gold pendant at around 4 to 5 inch deep (VDI number 44). I had the discrimination set at '39', so I lowered the discrimination to its minimum to search for a broken gold chain in the surrounding area. When I passed the coil over the plug that I had just dug, I got a '58' VDI reading. I couldn't find it with my ProPointer, so I started breaking up the plug and waving the pieces in front of the coil until I found it. It was a larger gold pin that wasn't quite as deep as the first one. It was just about an inch or so above the smaller gold pin. Finding gold always makes my day.:)

I also, found several tokens, a British New Penny, a dollar coin and some clad coins. Oh yeah, I was using the 11 inch DD coil.:detecting:

Thanks Tim. I know I could find more silver coins if I could break my habit of digging iffy signals looking for gold jewelry at older trashy sites.

On new sports fields, the G2 really shines. It's hard to beat if you are looking for gold jewelry on sports fields and digging all signals without regard to VDI numbers.

Hey, great finds, Gerald. Are they gold k marked? They look neat. HH jim tn

Jim, the larger one has some super small numbers stamped on it, that are hard to read, because of their small size.

A scratch mark across the numbers doesn't help matters any.

Just going by the weight and color, I'd say 14k gold. Also, they both give VDI numbers that you'd expect for gold for their size and weight.

Heck, I can't tell if I'm looking at the numbers upside down or not.:)

Nice score Tabman, :hot:
The 11dd is a gold killer in the parks and I think under rated on the G2.

Tabman, I think that triangular pin may be a college fraternity pin. Either Delta Sigma Delta or Delta Delta Sigma. Got any local colleges around the area? Maybe that would help ID it.

You're smarter than the average bear. Yes there's a college close by. Maybe a sorority pin?

Those are pretty good finds for as small as they are btw. I'm planning to get a G2 in the Spring. I've got a Delta 4000 and am now using/testing the 13"ultimate. I've found some gold with the Delta, but when I do bury tests with any of my coils the VDI's, depending on the soil, are all over the place. I buried a 18k 4.5 gram gold cross at 3 inches in damp sandy soil and the only coil that even came close to detecting it was the 5 x 10 Eliptical with a VDI range of anywhere from 51 to 60 and a sense of 8. And holy cow, do I dig a lot of pulltabs and beavertails. HH down there!

:jump: YEA HAUL.
