The fruits of three days & four CW camps

We pounded the fields for the last three days. We found things in every camp we hunted though slim at best at times I think we did well. I dug this brass silvered disk with what looks like a hinge or some thing to attach it to something. If any one can help ID it I would really appreciate it. Thanks for looking TIM
 
My first guess would be a smoke pipe lid. Just a guess.

First of all GREAT digs! The oval piece is the center part of a reign guide. It was like the closure of the center portion of reign guide. It needed to go both ways. I believe more decorative than anything. I dug My first on as a a kid and others through the years. I live in "horse" country here in Kentucky, and we collect horse tack. That is how I found out what I was digging!
I took me decades to figure out what I had dug.
I will find a pic of one, but I am 100% certain that is what you have found...and they are an uncommon find.
