Knew we had a shot of getting a little of that white stuff, but even forewarned, I wasn't happy to see it. Woke up to some nice flurries with a temp. of 24 and a wind chill well down into the teens. Hence, the first day of 2017 I haven't hunted. Typically, I don't miss getting out very many days throughout the year.
A couple of previous outings netted me a few goodies, though, so posting them gives me something to do. Got the Mercury dime and the 04 I H in the woods a couple days ago along with the 3 ringer. 1 neat find from a couple days ago was the Gay Ola soda watch fob. Also got what I believe to be a lead hem weight that same hunt. The fob might well be the deepest smaller size target I have ever dug with a A T Pro.
I had on the 11" stock coil and running in Pro Zero with 8 sen and got a kind of scratchy mid tone with the occasional high tone tic coming through here and there with the depth meter black line stuck on 10. Old site, great digging conditions, I thought, "lets see what might be down there." Nothing was in the first 8" of dirt I had removed, so started probing around in the hole with the Carrot. Just slightly to the right of the center of the hole I got a bit of vibration on the pin pointer. Took out another inch or so of dirt and the target was still down in the hole. In my next Wilcox diggers load of dirt and from all of 10" deep I spotted the fob in the dirt clod.
The Co, under another name, was founded in 1910 in Chattanooga Tn and then the founders spit up. The Gay Ola Co then started up in Memphis, Tn. in 1911. Shortly there after it got into a legal battle with some Co called Coca Cola and Gay Ola actually ended up winning the dispute.,,,,,and continued in business into the early 1920's. So, the fob does have some age to it. HH jim tn
