The F75 is sensitive to small jewelry!

I was in the lake detecting this morning (Excalibur) this morning to no avail and decided to get out and try my luck in the volley ball sand lot with the F75. I'm pretty sure it had already been cleaned out as I only found one coin. However, I found a pretty small toe ring and a very tiny pendant. The pendant was probably 1/4 the size of a dime and even after I found it I didn't realize it at first.

It kept falling through my scoop (of course) and landed on the ground. Luckily I was finally able to see it. I also found a small bee bee size fastener for an earring.

I continue to be amazed by this detector.

I think a lot of us continue to be amazed with the f75. I do, anyway. Last week I was searching on a old fairgrounds that had become quite frugal for yielding older coins. The f75 managed to pull up a couple Wheaties and a 1941 Standing Liberty half. The half was 6" deep and on edge and about 2" away from the half was a piece of rusted tin. Other swingers, including myself, had missed the half as it was masked by the tin, apparently. HH jim tn

What settings were you able to use? could you get into JE mode stably, or did you find the gold in DE mode?
TIA,
Tagamet

I was in DE mode. I didn't try the JE mode because I was looking for rings and coins and I didn't need any more depth than 6-7 max. The reason I didn't is because the sand is in a liner the park has down under the sand. There is only about 6" of sand. So I never dig through it to keep from ruining it. Plus, with it there, there is never a need too.

That is why I was surprised to make the small finds in DE mode. Sensitivity was default (60) as again I knew I didn't need the depth.

I think so many new users, including me when I was first getting started with the F75, think that the F75 is unstable when it is actually hitting these very small targets and reporting on them. I hit an even smaller piece of metal (unmarked and irregular shaped that was probably aluminum) later on that I couldn't believe when I found it, but it still gave a repeatable signal.

The one gold ring, 10k class ring, I've found with the f75, I was also in the de mode and 3h tones. It was a fairly hefty ring and bounced between 53 and 56. HH jim tn

I think this is Sooo accurate. This machine sounds off if you even THINK about metal. Well, maybe not just the thought, but it really does seem to "pay attention" to the tiny bits of metal in the ground that my other machines ignore. Although this is not a bad thing, it IS something that needs to be taken into account.
Be well,

Wow! How did the Half sound? Was the signal repeatable? I assume you had whatever range the tin came in either disced or notched out?

Thanks,
Wally

It hit pretty good (on edge) and tried to lock on 90-91, but did get some bouncing #'s with the rusty piece of tin so close. Disc. 6, sen. 70, notch 1, tones 3h and process de. HH jim tn
