I left this morning intending to detect one of 5 field sites so I took my F70 and the 6in coil. Unfortunately none of the sites were available. 3 had crops still on them and the other 2 were being worked. Decided to take the F70 and do a little clad hunting. It's a dandy little clad machine and is hot on nickels.
Since I was already in town, I stopped to see my friend Bill. Bill has a copper memorial penny buried 8in deep that we use to test detectors. I wanted to see if the F70 would hit the penny with the small coil mounted. The F70/6in coil combo not only hit on the penny it continued to do so even when I lifted the coil a couple of inches. I'm impressed! Then I put a nickel on a clean spot of ground and did an air test. The coil was over 12in above the nickel before I started to lose the signal. I measured it with a tape measure. Guess I just didn't realize the F70 was such a hot little detector. I'm not ready to put my other detectors in the closet yet but I was really surprised.
