Could be I am learning more about it too each time out.
I went to a very well worked out Park in Fargo, ND to try this F-75 in a spot around the Gazebo that has a lot of nails around it, just to see how it will work and if it can see anything the Explorer may have missed with the stock coil, the Joey and the 5 inch coil. Last few time there I have found nothing other than some nails that were iffy. I only had a half hour to hunt before the rain came, but dug a few rusty bottle caps that were deeper and iffy. I was running 0 disc, with the DP tones, BC mode with the sensitivity at 82 and could hear a lot of iron that was reading around 5-7 on the meter. I got one iffy one that was repeatable with the tones changing a bit and notice the depth meter was reading deep, so I pinpointed it as it said 10 inches deep. Using my Uniprobe I found this target right in the very center of my hole and it was a good 9-10 inches deep and was a old cuff link that was gold plated. Went a little further where nails were plenty and where I have got a couple nice IH with the 5 inch coil on the Explorer II. Got a good one way signal and a low tone the other way, so I went slower and seen the one way it showed 61 and the confidence meter showed 1 down from the top, but the other way it was low tone and no bars, so I pinpointed and it showed 7 inches deep. Dug out a plug and put my UniProbe in and seen I was close so I took out more dirt and seen a penny come out and was hopping for a IH being it read like one, but it was a nice 1919 S Wheaties.I put the probe back in the hole and there was another signal and that one was a small rusty nail that had to be within a inch or 2 of the penny. Then it started to rain, so I had to leave as I didn't have my rain cover with me.
I do dig some rusty bottle caps and some pieces of rusty tin cans, but as i use it more I am sure it will get better as I learn plus some of these are just to iffy to walk away from them as you never know some of my better finds were iffy signals.
Like I say the F-75 is impressing me more and more each time out and feel it is going to be one of the top selling detectors in 2007.
