The F 70 Nickel Magnet

kickback

New member
I have a F 70 I use as one of my demo detectors.I took it out yesterday to an old school and some sports fields.I dug tons of nickels along with dimes, quarters and pennies. My nickel count was 2 short of my penny count.I dig all penny signals.20 plus nickels a hunt is getting common.ID numbers of 29-31 are always(99% of the time) a nickle.Part of the hunt I used the 6 1/2 inch coil the rest of the hunt I used the stock coil.I run sensitivity at 70,disc 21,notch at 36,DE and 4 H tones.Got another F 75 coming. Can't wait to try the elliptical concrentric coils on it.Bill

20 plus nickels is great. Have you ever tried digging the 29-31 signals in a real trashy place? I know at certain spots I can tear up the nickels with the 3D but somtimes it a real trashy spot seems like I get more trash. That may be due to the fact that there are not as many nickels there and a lot more trash. Just curious to see what your nickel to trash ratio would in a place like that.

BillS If the ID number is what I call a "lock" it won't very at all, like 29-30,30-31 or 29-31.If I'm sweeping directly over the coin it gives ID numbers like this.If it drops below 29 or goes above 31 when swinging over the coin, dead center it has been trash, can slaw, beavertails, twisted pilltabs.I hunted at a fairgrounds, swimming pool and skateboard park that are super trashy. So far the ID's have been good with little trash. This is in my soil.I usually ground balance at 72 to 78.Bill

I have found pretty much the same as Bill. In a real trashy spot with a lot of can slaw, I do find I dig a little more trash, but not nearly as much, Bill S, as I used to with my cz3d. If my 75 locks on a good sounding 28 and 29-30, it is almost always a nickel. HH jim tn

What kind of depth can you get a correct ID on a nickel? My CZ is good for about 6" on a nickel with correct ID. Will the F70-75 get that much or more with a good TID?

Bill I found a 6 inch deep Buffalo nickel with the CZ yesterday,I then tried the F 70 over this target. It locked on 29.I dug the nickel it was 6 inches deep.I took both detectors to compare them side by side on targets found.Bill
