The Excalibur hunters on the east coast are probably going to have interesting finds after the storm.

LOL, Fox news just showed a beach hunter searching in the storm. My advice,be patient and take a break, safety comes first, there will be plenty of places to search after the storm.HH Ron

The way the TV is reporting I hope there's an East coast left after this one.

I am about 50 miles inland in Connecticut and I am glad I do not live on the coast! Those poor people. We are getting hammered pretty hard and the storm still has a good 12 hours of left and right punches. I'll even add a few upper-cuts as well. I was just talking with a treasure hunter and he made the statement that this storm is going to kick stuff up from the stone and Spanish ages lol Mandatory Evac obviously on the coast here in CT and now certain towns are imposing curfews. XWY, I agree, I hope there is an East Coast after all the mayhem. As of 10-29-12 @ 5:25pm I still have power..... I am pretty well prepared - now I just have to ride out the storm. - Jim

Well of course I meant for the hunting. I would hate to have to ride out that storm, although I have been through a tornado or two, though they're much smaller and of MUCH shorter duration here in Indiana. 7:14pm here let us know how you're doing.

Ron.... there may be to much junk floating around afer looking at VA Max vedio. There might not be a beach.... could be like bay property. Pretty nasty. Not doing us here in the gulf much good..... just a lot of wash machine water going on out there. Right now you have to be out there every day on the Gulf to hit it right because it canges every day. Now we have those exceptional high tides as well with the full moon.

I understand what you meant lol I was just talking away that I wouldn't at this very moment in time. I would love to live by the ocean to metal detect! Especially after this storm is over. My power flickered a couple times over the last few hours so I have been very fortunate. As of this writing (10-29-12 @ 10:24pm) The news mentioned CT is approaching 600,000 for power outages. The shoreline is absolutely getting clobbered. - Jim

Dew ,good point.CNN and Fox are happy they are out in force in their rain coats wading around NY,and NJ. HH Ron

Jim,my generator has a full tank and ready,so maybe that's a good omen.Horses are in the barn tonight, early today could hear the wind whistle through the doors after bringing them in. The weather here in MI isn't great and grateful I don't have to deal with the winds on the east coast. Thanks Ron

Headed out thursday early for 5 days at the beach, first time out hunting this year. Hope I saved all my luck for this one and can get into OC MD. Anyone in the area of the Grand on 21st look me up.

Ron, it was a good omen. Well for me, I came out unscatched from Hurricane Sandy. However, the people down on the shoreline of CT didn't fare so well. Houses on fire, massive flooding and as of this time writing, unfortunately two people lost their lives from it.- Jim

Jim,watching the news it looks bad on the east coast, lots damage and cleanup.Thoughts and prayers are with these people.HH Ron

The ocean and bay beaches took a bad hit here some are gone completly right up to the roads even some roads are washed out along with a few homes there is tons of junk now on the bare beaches a tough fight to detect all the crap washed back out whole trees and trash piled up from storm surge it will take days to get the water to recead the winds are still 50+ mph SW , a huge tanker ship 600 feet long washed up on the beach , ill be out there to hunt by weeks end hopefully GLA . Jim

Jim,lots of work ahead for the residents in the area hit.I'm sure beach hunting is low on their priority list.HH Ron

I hear the surge was 14 feet high. Highest on record, worse than any prior huricane. I guess they said salt water flowed into the subway tunnels, where a lot of power company lines are routed to various parts of the city. You know what happens to electrical stuff when it gets dunked in salt water, so I'm suspecting parts of New York might not have power for months maybe. They'll probably have to run power lines on the ground as a temporary fix or something, or power individual blocks via large generators on the street.

I expect to see a lot of old silver and gold ship wreck coins and treasure turn up. Even without a metal detector just walking I bet people find stuff such as old bottles and such. And remember, you won't hear about 90% of the finds people make. I know many people who never would dare post their finds on the forums, prefering to keep their success at various forms of hunting a secret.

I heard some guy metal detecting on the national news showed a report a bunch of gold he found. The reporter was all excited and was screaming "You found that stuff with a metal detector?!" Now, I ask you guys...Who is using their head here? If I was that guy metal detecting I'd be showing him all the junk I dug and not a word about my finds. I don't mind sharing sites and finds I made with locals getting into the hobby that I can see have ethics (not all do), but I tend to guard my spots/finds and share them with only those who I know aren't going to destroy the hobby. Of course I still have a few sites that I don't share with anybody but my closest inner circle of 5 or 6 hunters I've hunted with for years, but I'm sure not going to advertise on national news. How many people do you think are running out to buy metal detectors to hunt that beach that guy hunted? And what's the odds they are using shovels and leaving huge holes, which might get everybody banned.

Good luck guys. My thoughts and prayers are with everybody who is suffering through this. Wish I could be there and go with yall. HH-Mark

From the footage of some of those beaches I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't entire ships exposed with the devastation I've seen.
Hate to see so many people forced out of their homes and/or losing same. It's horrible...I'll take a tornado here in Indiana anytime!

First full day out, and one 47 wheaty

just got power back tonight, been in the dark since sunday night. ocean access is mostly blocked.
Im lucky, my sisters husbands truck (dodge quad) was totalled by two trees and my bosses marina (downs marina in bayville, nj) is now completely washed out into the bay. couple of buddies lost boats, lots of damage around here, Im glad no trees landed on my house, there are quite a few around here that got walloped. seaside heights boardwalk took a big hit and theres little beach left to speak of. google sandy seaside heights, see if you can find the link of the 5min blackhawk chopper ride that videoed the damage around here, really shows it well.
just glad to have some heat and some lights tonight:clapping:
tend to refiling the fridge in a day or so.
