An unusual thing happened the other day. I got a call at the office and a friend had told me that a couple of F-22 Raptors landed at our local airport for fuel. I thought he was saucing it up a bit and was dreaming. This particular plane, to my knowledge or any local plane spotter, has ever landed at this airport due to security reasons. I left work early and drove like a bank robber to the airport and WOW! there they were. Along with 6 F-18 Hornets and 3 CH-47 Chinook helicopters. All from different bases. From what we hear, they were diverted due to weather in the area and had to stop for fuel. They were suppose to meet up with a tanker for aerial refueling but it was diverted out of the area also. The pilots were very protective of their planes and told the ground crews not to take photos while they were refueling. They could only take photos from a distance. We were outside the fence in a public area and were able to just snap away. Unfortunately I only had my wide angle zoom and couldn't get any close-ups or good shots when they took off. The planes were out of Tyndall AFB near Panama City, FL.
