The Elusive 2 pound Coin - Whats yours

Although the above coin as only been in circulation for 10 years or so I have only ever found one of these babies whilst detecting & that was the first coin I found with my F4 on the back yard testing it.... Im not sure if its the larger size & the bi-metal appearance that make it harder to lose but even so 10years in circulation youd have thought there would have been more lost than it seems...... The pound coin on the other hand for me on good sites is like confetti, Which is great as you donr need many to recoup your origonal outlay for the detector n gear....

I know this wont mean alot to you guys accross the pond although I wonder if some of you might think that some of your common US coinage is elusive? = you just dont find any LOL.

Good hunting Guys.

Pics = large is ther ight is

Cool. It looks very close to our Canadian 1 dollar and 2 dollar coin. I have found 1 dollar coins but now when I think of it never a 2 dollar coin. Of course there are millions of these things out there. Its probably mroe difficult for people to lose the large 2 dollar and much easier for people to see and pick up?? Just a thought.

Now Im curious whats of the other side of your coins. We have the Loon on the 1 dollar and polar bear on the 2 dollar. Will have to look it up.

thanks for posting

hey thanks for that one Dwayner, Yeah I agree its got to be the larger size that makes them harder to lose.....Anyway the 1 & 2 pound coins have a few different designs, Heres a good link for uk coins past n present http://www.ukcoinpics.co.uk & here for the

I wonder... do you guys ever wish you could go back to a monarchy and do away with parliment? I sometimes think we would do well with a benevolent dictator for a few years to straighten some things out like our government spending 170% of what they get in taxes... I mean really? Then start over with a constitutional republic. I can't get away with that kind of crap. Wnhatgood is a constitution if the leaders ignore it and the people let them do it...???

Anyway... the queen looks like a man and coins that are elusive to me are standing libertys and morgans and especially half dollars, not to mention gold coins.

I went yesterday and bought five coins. A nickel 1865 3 cent coin, a silver 3 cent coin can't read date, an 1865 2 cent coin, an 1858 seated quarter, and an 1851 half dime that is punched. I hope they will help me to make more finds of these sort of coins. I have only checked them with a V3, which I think I am going to sell, but the nickel 3 cent read a soild 12 on the VDI, the 2 cent read 30, the rest read 51 and 53, I don't remember which was which, I only noted that I dig anything between 50 and 5 on that machine so it didn't really matter to me.

I'll tell you what I can dig anywhere... a stinkin' Lincoln. I believe I could find a Lincoln penny on the dang moon.

well even if her ass was on our postage stamps, we'd still have to lick em! LOL yeah our royals are not good lookers hell the queen would pass as an hairy assed trucker or logger lol lol,,,,,, but havent you heard,,,? our royals n your presidents past n present are in fact all related & shape shifting lizzards tied to the annunake?

Oh well make a change from politicians eh?

Here in good ol' Oz we have $1 and $2 coins. Compared with US guys I haven't found nearly the number of coins that they do, but considering our population and my location, I think I do ok. Our $1 coins have been around since 1984, and $2 since 1988. $1 is larger than the $2 and both are 92% copper. I have found by far more $2 coins than any other denomination, and the F4 is no different. It weeds them out really well....sometimes the digital readout varies from coin to coin, usually depending on how long they have been there, so keep that in mind. I have detected some $2 with readings of 54-55 and some at 61, and some in between. The audio signal is usually good though. HH

- - they are minted by the hundreds of millions, year after year, and yet I rarely find them while detecting. I could count on my fingers how many I've found in almost 25 years at this.
