The Edge is a Contender..

Well I have got enough time on the Edge now to come to give some definite conclusions on its performance. First let me say that my favorite type of detecting is looking for coins at older sites with fresh water wading also high on the list.

So how is the Edge doing? Well I'm here to tell you its a Contender and that Bills field test is right on! When it comes to older sites where iron and rusty nails are the culprits that cause us to miss the good stuff the Edge is gettin 'er dun for me. Almost without exception the finds it is making at my local hotspots are targets co-located with nails that I have missed in the past. It would be easy to say that they were missed because of coming from the wrong directions and blah blah. But after confirming in all metal and the amount of rusty nails coming up with the good stuff time after time I'm convinced that Fisher got it right with this one. Without going into the gory details I will just say that for those that look for those iffy but possibly good targets still left to be found you are gonna like this detector.

Nuff said

HH and happy digi-Fishering!

that guy who said the Edge field test was so full of hype it was fluffy like strofoam popcorn packing while he hyped another brand was wrong? Heh heh.....(I wish these know it all's would try one first) ;)

your right on all counts just got an edge and it properly id everything under the coil just as the manual said it found a really small piece of metal down about 7 ins...great detector

Hey Jackpine glad to hear the Edge is doing so well in iron. Why not post how you had the Edge set up hunting iron infested sites. Thanks.

Hi Jack,

I had sensitivity at 8, nothing notched out and iron disc at -19. I like to hear the smaller iron especially when running the sens that high in infested areas.

Thanks Jackpine (I say Jackpine because I don't know for sure if your name is Jack also) I recently got an Edge. I have not used it much and was wondering about the settings. Thanks for answering back.

Bill,

Fisher could have loaded the Edge down with features to make it more appealing to a broader market, but they chose IMO to make it perform instead. That has always been Fisher's philosphy with their detectors and many many people appreciate it.
