With my younger son today. He didn't like getting up at 6:00am so wasn't too interested in digging! My mistake I guess.
Met the bulldozer driver from last week again. Actually he came over to us to talk a few times. Seems he is interested in getting a detector, as is one of his friends, so I gave them a quick play with an Ace and they really enjoyed that.
I tried to work some of the sand banks they had made from the walkway to the lower section of the beach. Tricky when digging a hole in them because the sand above just slid back into it as fast as I could dig. Must have looked funny to others with one leg stretched up the bank trying to stop the sand sliding down. It worked anyway and produced a reasonable number of coins too. Must be lots of goodies still in there and they'll end up on top of the main beach during the week as they clear away the steps. Fine with me. Maybe then I won't have to look like a ballerina.
Mid-morning lots of people arrived for an event, so we let them have the beach to themselves for an hour or so. A commercial fishing company arranged a long net that was dropped by boat just offshore and then pulled in by hand - two ropes and two groups of people. Have seen it done before so not so new for me, but the results (species and sizes) were quite impressive considering the excessive commercial and recreational fishing in the area. As they were hauling in the net it snagged on a very large metal frame of some sort, which took a while to bring in and resulted in some waiting time for the group. Some of the fish went into tanks and there was a short explanation of the different species. Anyway please check out some of the pics (three pages of them) if you have an interest in that. Results:
Younger son: 600 yen in coins (two coins) - which kept him happy. (And many little fish washed up on the beach from the net, which everyone (including us) wanted to throw back in the sea. Human Nature at its best.....e.g. the little guys in trouble often gets the support of the majority!)
Me: 747 yen, two silver rings, silver earring, part of a silver bracelet?, small pendant.....two very full buckets of trash. ulltab Oh, also got a lead diving weight and the usual sinkers too.
Got some very low tides coming up during the daytime this coming week so I should really try and make some time for that......
