If a Tesoro is a UMAX, does that mean that basicaly all the Umax detectors are the same just more bells and whistle's? If that is true would that mean that if a person had the know how, would there not be a lot of mods that could be done?
Just Asking

I think you will find that the UMAX stands for a smaller casing, the silver sabre 11 was then made in to the silver sabre umax.
Some people did add the Manual GB to it and found that they did not have the room to put the knob on the faceplate because the of the casing being smaller.

Thanks Guy's for the replies, although I am 50 years old, i just got into metal detecting. I had a few detector before I bought my Deleon and I like it, I wished it had a tone ID or at least a high coin tone to go along with the number and graph system, and that is why I ask the question I did, thanks Les I think you explained that to me.
Thanks Greg

You are 100% correct. If you can do the mods you better know how to repair the detector. I would not try any mods if I expected the manufactor to warrantee the detector.

...Has been asked often. There is at least one excellent forum dedicated to just mod'ding Tesoro's.

I may add a GB to my Golden, once Ive gotten the part.
I ordered a special low profile, "pot in the knob" potentiometer just for that purpose. But, so far, my conditions dont really warrant it.

And as Clay's pic indicates, there are plenty of things you COULD do. And you WILL void your warranty and Tesoro will not wish to work on your instrument once the mods are done - I've asked them.

So yes, you can do a lot things to mod the uMax breed. Only you can decide if you should.
