The Dredged the Lake and dumped the contents!!!

So apparently this community lake I often go to go got dredged by the people that own the lake. They split sections up around the lake and sold them to people who own lots, about 100 lots at the lake or so. They dumped the contents of the dredging up the road, flattened it out so its about 3ft deep instead of a huge mound of dirt. Is this worth my time to detect and if so would it be better to use something that goes deeper but may not find small gold as well or a water detector that wont go as deep but picks up small objects with ease?

I live in Candlewick Lake Boone County Illinois, and we are dredging this summer. They have started building the retention pond, using the first foot or so of soil from a park behind our dam. Going out this evening and hitting the area. Any one out there interested in joining in? No rules against MD'ing, and we could hit the dredged material once it is dry enough to walk on too! Lake is man made, dug out in 1975. LOTS of swimming, boating, skiing etc...Can't wait!

I would hit it right now but with track practice and school, saturdays the earliest I could go. The only thing that would kind've bother me is that its a cove they dredged not really anything special goes on. Although i believe its a different cove someone is rumored to have lost a 3 carat diamond nascar ring there while water skiing. From what i understand thats where they started from. Lucky for me the guy moved far far away :)

Hehehe....Theres only one way to find out my friend. Just dont let someone find out before you. :poke:

finally detected it. the area is huge. lots of targets but no goodies yet mostly aluminum cans. although i will be back shortly only to be better prepared next time :)

Wear it out with whatever machine you feel more comfortable with. There's got to be some good stuff. Good Luck. HH :minelab:
