The difference between the DFX & XS Forums

Why does it seem like on the explorer forum that all there is are questions on trying to figure out the machine, whereas at the DFX forum, all they talk about is all the treasure they are finding???????????????????
Im a newbie committed to buying an explorer tommorow.

this is the Explorer Classroom. There are too many finds to be put on one forum. So the questions are put on this forum and the finds are put on the forum linked below. You look through the finds there and I think you will see the difference between the two forums. This is the place to ask questions about the operation of the Explorer and the forum linked below is for posting finds.

Peter,
I am fairly new to metal detecting too. I own a DFX and I have enjoyed it and with no problems. Last week, I also bought an Explorer. Not that I wasn't happy with the DFX, but because I feel like you don't have to dislike one in order to enjoy the other.
I'm too new with the Explorer to give a responsible evaluation of it, but preliminary indications seem to suggest that it is certainly worth having. The FBS forum has nice finds posted on it, as it is for Explorer users to post to. The Exlorer classroom is set aside separate for new users. The DFX classroom forum has both user questions and finds posted. The reason is that it is the only forum for the DFX.
I'll be looking at both Explorer forums the coming weeks as I learn to use the Explorer and see what others in the Explorer users are finding.
Hope to see you around,
HH Alton

Peter: I own both machines and have used and like them both. In my mind, and in my hands there is no question that the XS is a deeper machine on coin size targets deeper by half again as measured in the field and in my garden. The XS has the edge in high Iron enviroments running, in Iron Mask it's ability to detect a coin in close proximity to a rusty nail is a destinct advantage. You only have to lay a nail down next to a coin and see the DFX null(as almost all other machines would)and see the XS pick up the coin to wonder how many times this will happen in the field.
The DFX is a much faster machine, faster to sweep, faster to learn, faster to scan a new area for the possabilities it might have. I think the DFX has a better tone I.D. and I know it is a better pinpointer without the Double D coil, but remember it's coil detection patteren cones at depth.
I own them both and wouln't have it any other way. Which one do I use, both for the reasons listed above, but if I had to pick just one it would be the EX with the X1 probe, and a Stelth X-8" coil. I cannot imagine a situation where the DFX would see a coin that the XS could not see, and I don't think the reverse is true.

Check in on the F/BBS forum ,,, there the talk is about what is found !!!
