The DeLeon the dog the stock coil and the stock tank = old stuff

When I got home it was still about100 outside so I decided to take the dog for a swim at a stock tank nearby, and of course I took the DeLeon along for the walk you never know right. The way to this stock tank cuts across a housing complex site that is just a big alfalfa field now I have dug a couple of Mercury dimes here in the past so I was hoping for something good. I dug a couple of targets on the way over not many because the dog was still antsy to play so I tossed his tennis ball he brought along to him.

The dog enjoyed his swim and didn't want to get out of the water I don't blame him it was hot out and with a black fur coat I bet that swim was nice I almost joined him but that water has not had any new water in a while. On the way back home I found a place that had lots of gravel like it was a driveway or a road or something so I started swinging the DeLeon first three signal were wheat pennies that's a good sign I'm thinking after watching me dig a few holes the dog got bored and laid down to wait for me I dug a few pieces of junk and then hit a deep silver choppy signal I cut a plug with the big screw driver I brought along about 5" down I found a small wad of foil bummer I rechecked the hole and the DeLeon screamed Silver! I drove the screwdriver in around the edge of the hole breaking up the dirt after that I grabbed a handful and waved it over the coil nothing I grabbed another handful and the DeLeon rang out and there it was a Washington silver quarter. It wasn't till I got it home that I saw it was a 1961d after I cleaned the dirt off it I saw I had scratched it I must have done that when I was looking for the foil target it's still a nice looking coin
The old stuff

Whenever I start getting wheats I anticipate silver next. Better to scratch one silver coin than not get one at all. Nice results for a short hunt.
