The CTX sniffs one out

Finally got the CTX out for an hour yesterday for a trial run and am impressed so far. Of course still need a lot more time to learn what this thing can do but it looks like it is going to be a winner.

Went to my local park which I rarely hunt anymore. I have hit this place hard over the years and the finds are so scarce now that I find the place boring. But it is a good place to test out new detectors or coils as i get a good gauge at their capabilities.

In this first short hunt I hit an area that I expected not to find anything. After about 20 minutes, got a signal that sounded pretty good (which was surprising) and read 4 inches deep. I could see using target trace the good hit but could also see a smear trail down into the iron section. Pinpointed it and dug out a chunk or iron. I knew after reading this forum that couldn't be my target so stuck the probe in the hole again and got another hit. This one turned out to be a wheatie.

What impressed me was how well the wheatie hit even though I missed it countless times with my Explorer and E-trac. Also, the CTX target trace worked as advertised. I knew there appeared to be a good and bad target there. And again, it was only 4 inches deep, well in range of almost any detector on the market and as heavily as this parks has been hunted, it was probably missed hundreds of times over the years. But, the CTX sniffed it out:clapping:

As good as you are with the Etrac Ray, I doubt you will ever be out gunned:detecting:

Great report Bob, thanks for sharing it.----That CTX is sounding more impressive all the time!

I can attest to how pounded that park is. Bob brought me there once and I never wanna go back again. Boring is an understatement, you can go 20 minutes without even a junk signal at this place.

Great job cuz! If you start pulling more of those out of there, I just might have to consider another rendezvous with my CTX. hehehe

These are nice first reports. They mostly have that same thing in common - Finding more of those masked targets. My hope in returning the Deus is looking better - This machine might be very good at separating and unmasking.
The other thing we have been hearing is ID'ing at depth better than the E-Trac, wondering if anyone is digging deep ones they missed in the past?

Curious - Which of the settings were you using (high tash, ferrous coin, etc.?)

Thx,
Albert
