I was hunting an 150 Acre 1800's farm that has produced old silver in the past. Some of the notable past finds were an 1832 Half Dime, 1838 Counterfeit Half Dollar and a walking Half. Not found by me but my hunting buddy Chris, whose in-laws own the farm.
I was hunting in the High trash mode and started griding a corner of farm house lawn by a field. I found a 1918 Mercury Dime after an hour of hunting. 45 minutes later I got a solid 01-45 signal, it read 01-45 to 46 360 degrees all the way around. Knowing a walking half and counterfeit half were found on this property I called over Chris and told him I think this may be a Silver Half. He ran his CZ3D over the target and lifted it about 8" inches off the ground and was still getting a signal. He said "I think it is a piece of trash."
I told him "I've got to dig it". Well I cut my plug and flipped the sod and there sticking out of the bottom of my plug were two shiny silver quarters stuck together and offset a little (as in the first picture). A 1963 and a 1964 Washington. I looked at Chris and I told him the CTX was right it was a Half Dollar. It just had to add them up.
