The CTX 3030 Has Landed :bouncy:

WOW!!! It finally landed... After nearly a week of waiting the CTX 3030 is here. It already has a story to tell. After I ordered the detector I started tracking it's travel. Everything was on time until Wednesday night. Before I went to bed I pulled up the tracking info only to find a every unusual message about my inbound package. My delivery has been delayed because of a train derailment. WHAT??? Yep... You read correctly... UPS says that my package is delay because of a train derailment. Of course I had to do a quick internet search to see where the derailment happened and how bad. The only information that I found on a recent train derailment was in Ohio where a train derailed with a bunch of corn. That didn't sound right to me but anyway.... it is what it is. The next morning when I got up I checked the status and it was showing on time again... OH YEAH!! Well it's here and it has been raining for the past 2 days nonstop. I'm going crazy!!! :rage: I can't get out and hunt!!! Enough air test and enough user manual reading.... It's time for dirt digging. Anyway... I'm ready for action.

Wow that is a wild delivery! Glad it made it there safe and sound. Hope you are able to get out this week (I'm dying g to get out as well) and put it through its paces :)

Congrats on your new CTX! Don't let a little rain stop you, if I didn't Hunt in rain I'd only get out a few months a year!
Happy Hunting , you're going to love it!

Just remember (since your so excited) the wireless headphone module on rear of machine is NOT waterproof. You have to remove it and screw the plug or waterproof headphones into jack underneath wireless module. Congrats on the new machine!

Congrats on your new CTX. Just got mine too. Going out tomorrow for the first time with it. Joe

Hey Joe... Yeah, I'm going out with my CTX for the first time tomorrow as well. I'm looking forward to seeing what this thing will uncover. I will post my finds tomorrow evening. I look forward to seeing what you come up with too.

Thanks everyone for posting.

HH,
Chuck

You guys will enjoy getting to know your new CTX's, got mine last November and have put almost 150 hours on it now. The way I track my time is doing a geohunt with the gps each time out, then its a simple matter of looking at each geohunt for the duration of each hunt then adding them up. Just something I enjoy doing, I have really enjoyed and taken advantage of the gps feature on my CTX, others may feel different I don't know.

One very cool feature I discovered while viewing find points & waypoints I created was that in some cases when viewing a find point the image was several years older than the google map image, found this out because I created a find point across the street from me where construction took place several years ago, when looking at the google map in Xchange2 it looked like it does now but when I cooked on the findpoint to view it, the image shown was during construction. So I used this to advantage, I located my old baseball field where I played as a kid 48 years ago, looking at it on google map in Xchange2 showed it as it is today, so I started experimenting with putting waypoints on the field and when I viewed them, I could now see the old bleachers and concession stand and dug outs! So I created a number of waypoints at different areas I wanted to go over and it worked like a charm!

I don't know what causes this to happen but k hope it continues. Some places look the same so I suppose it just word with places that have had some changes within the past 3-5 years, but I'll take what I can get!

Have fun with your new machines!

Congrats on your new CTX!

Thanks... I have been enjoying the CTX... There is definitely a learning curve for sure... I'm going to make it work because I can see that this machine is a top notch. I'm try to learn my through it one hunt at a time... I can't wait to hit my first silver with it... I'm looking for my first seated dime... I hope it comes soon... I want a really nice one too... LOL.. Anyway... Thanks

Good luck with finding a nice seated dime! I doubt I will ever find one out here, any silver seems very hard to come by, I imagine if there were any seated dimes in my area they got up and walked off long ago. Every hunt with my ctx has been an interesting lesson for me, especially since I'd never used a Minelab with its fe/co id system, but I like this system better, more target info with fe/co.
