My overall impression is thar its well built, and sturdy.Lighter than I thought even with the standard 10" coil.It takes 8 AA batteries that go under the arm rest box..I took some pictures of it for you all to see. Enjoy Woodchuck

High,
My hunting bud uses the same model CS 5 MXP.
It gets about the same depth as my 1270 and has similar dual disc setup.
I find it better balanced than the 1270 and sure as hell cost way less.
Matter of fact he paid less for it brand new than I coughed up for my 1270 used.
We had both our units shipped from the UK to Germany, where we live.
Just my 2 bits worth

I must add though:
The operation of the 1270 is superior in such a way, that it has an easily accessible toggle switch to enable switching to pinpoint and second mode of operation(disc 2) with the hand of the swinging arm. Just by raing your hand an flicking your finger.
This saves time.
On the CS 5MXP you need both hands to switch back and forth.
This is not really an obstacle once you get used to it - but in my opinion the Brits should have mounted a three way toggle switch close to the grip point to enable the operator to accomplish these tasks one-handed.
Again, these are just my 2 bits worth of observation, having used the CSope.
