The Cortes has arrived !!!!

The Cortes has come a day early and I can't wait to use it but before I do I promised myself to read the book twice and air test it till I was comfortable. The question I have is I noticed on the TID that sometimes a symblo like a greater than would show up next to the depth or the id number. The numbers were not maxed out. The book mentions nothing about this. Does any have some advice?

Congrats on the Cortes, I love mine, shows me what the target is 90 percent of the time, usually says it's junk but I still dig, could be gold jewelry. Ground balance it with just a very slight touch positive for smoothest operation when using ALL METAL mode. All metal covers a wider swipe than Disc. and goes much deeper, great when targets are spread out a little, picks up gold chains and other hard-to-detect small gold jewelry that Disc. will not detect. Yesterday I got a screwcap reading, dug it and it was a sleigh bell (Crotal) more than 6" deep, haven't dug one of those in over 25 years, then right after that dug up a 1954 silver quarter at about 6", the rest was clad and tabs, etc. Older tabs are a good 6" deep too, soft soil here in central Jersey. Was a good 2 hour hunt. 30 years ago I would have called it a bad 2 hours, isn't like it was back then.

There is neato history on the various sleigh bells, isn't there?
I like em!

But once again... meter said screw cap!
Had you tried the sum mode on it?

on the screen, that they are telling us to lift the coil. I always thought they were pointing to the most probable target but that didn't seem right so I just ignored them. But today I noticed that they are always in the same spot on the screen. Also noticed today, when I lift the coil they go away. Thank you for your great insight. After the arrows go away then the detector ID's the targets with more accuracy.

me all that much more. Will have to try it again.
