Talk about a fixed point in time. The Compadre came through tonight on a 10 minute hunt. Found this medal clearly stating the date, purpose and where the event was held just over 100 years ago. It's in fantastic shape, you can even read in the back where it was made and by whom. I imagine fairly few were even made and survive to this day.

The Compadre is one of those must have items. Inexpensive, performance well beyond it's cost, easy to use, and it works. Mine is the 8 inch and frankly if I just want to go and search around in the simplest way possible with a metal detector this is the unit. Darn thing always manages to come up with some sort of cool find.

Nice find jmc. i think that would be more fun to find than even some of the older coins. i hope that site produces some more good finds for you. keep swing the compadre and cleaning house on the treasures fom the past.
Metalfun. You better just go and get you a compadre already, because If you wait any longer you will kick yourself for not getting one sooner once you do. You are missing out on a whole lot of fun. Thats a nice find,certainly unusual,had my Compadre for about a month and normally i would not have bought one but one came along at a stupid low price and was only used twice,so i snapped the sellers hand off,but certainly dont regret it,it will never be my main machine but will certainly be used alot more than some of the other machines i own and the main reasons are simplicity,lightweight,very good at what it does but above all it brings a massive smile to my face after i have used it.
For the small price that these sell for,you get alot of detector for your money.
