The Coin Shop...got a cheap fix!:beers:

Went to the local coin shop and drooled all over their counter! Been so long since I'd seen a silver coin or gold anything, it was fun..I bought 4 silver rosies for 1.60ea and a Ben Franklin half for 8.(my dream coin)..cheap fix! My Wife thought this might be a good idea for me to get out of the house and she was right once again!

I also put some heavy ju-ju on the gold coins and silver dollars...burning their image into my brain to help the Metallurgery synapsis focus on that signal to lead me to them, and help pull them out of the ground this coming year.

Anyway, talked to the guy, said he has a hard time keeping silver coins on the shelf, seems he has some clients that come in and snap up every one as soon as he gets them...he had all sots of collector coins and whatnot, just not the raw silver...not even ONE wash Q! He said he had bags of them last summer...somethings up with gold too...seems the Germans pulled the plug on the manipulated prices recently, so its going up a bit.....its 1254/0z today.
Says he's not getting the walk ins selling as much gold or silver as before either...I dressed good on purpose, he thought I might have money, so he spent some time talking!

His raw coin stock consisted of One BF half, one WL half, and a small tray of maybe 10 rosies..

Checked out Craigslist for "Lost and Found".jewelry, yup, folks are still losing rings, seems most in parking lots though. Trying to get through this Winter boys, any way I can..and this helped a little...

Anybody else go to their local coin store for inspiration? Sort of a cool place, if a guy is into metal and all...

Good score Mud.
I buy $ 1000 boxes of rolled coins and hunt that way
Quarters and dimes are my go to coins..
Usually get two or three silvers a week.

Mud,
You mentioned something being up with precious metals...you're right. I store most of my money in PMs, not colllectibles, so I watch the markets closely. Savvy folks know the stock market is being artificially propped up by Quantitative Easing and one day the whole house of cards will come crashing down. The only safe haven when that happens is PMs. The PM market is heavily manipulated and Germany and others are tired of it. The intentional crashing of the PM market, and Bitcoin, had unintentional results and people are snapping up "real money" at bargain basement prices. The whole idea was to have people sell off their PMs and run back to the dollar and happlily the wise are converting the Government Toilet Paper into "real money" at an unprecidented rate. Good days ahead for us dirt fishers with lots of silver plunder!

Yeah Surfinsafari! I'm up early and following it...not that I understand a whole lot, I try to read everything with an open mind,
Seems Comex is some sort of trading house that sells paper contracts on the phys they hold, seems theres @80 people that have a contract on each ounce they hold...so one can figure that if several plucky big holders of Comex shares, takes delivery on the REAL phys, Comex quickly has no phys gold left and there will be a heap of people holding worthless gold contracts...so, at that point, the PAPER value of gold should temporarily plummet, as Comex makes those contracts good not with phys, but in dollars, like the fine print of the paper contracts states.

However, even though at that point the exchanges will have gold priced at lets say 1000/oz, or less, nobody that holds REAL gold will be selling it for that, and nobody will be able to source (or mine) the REAL gold for that low a price either....then, hopefully, demand has overcome the REAL supply, and naturally drives up the price past 3k/oz and climbing perhaps at that point some will start to sell the REAL gold again?

The Chinese are BUYING at 1254...spending the rapidly falling value of USD's for real gold! One could extrapolate two things from this, either the bankers (our Govt). are manipulating prices of gold DOWN, as well as keeping supply of the REAL gold constricted, why? in the hopes of not getting all those worthless USD's back from China too fast...ie:, if gold was 10k/oz, we would be getting 10k of worthless USD's back for every ounce they buy instead of 1250 as it is now, if gold was 10k/oz...there would not be a wedding ring left in this Country in about a week, and China would not hold a knife to our throat with our debt either...or us to theirs...so as long as we restrict the volumn of phys, we control Chinas attempt to flood our economy and crash the system...dump our money, devalue the heck out of the USD, and pretty much win the game......OR, think about this?
CHINA is manipulating gold prices Down, to be able to buy MORE of the REAL deal with our dollars, and still keep us heavily indebted to them! Easy to do if you hold the huge amount of USD's like they do...smack any up spike right in the crapper, by buying or selling the PAPER futures! just a theory, what do you think?

I'm gonna watch this close, if theres any sign of big trades of paper contracts for phys this coming week, if the PAPER price disengages from the street value, it could get real fun real fast! Our streets could soon be littered with USD's, and theres not a gold ring in sight...then, for a great checkmate...Chinese buying OPEC oil presently denominated in USD's by denominating a barrel by GOLD that they bought with our own USD's!...bye bye Petrodollar! Easy enough to pull that off since the Saudis dont seem to like us much anymore, USD's would be worthless, and we will be broke ass at that point, buying gas at 20bucks per gallon...then, a big war will break out! Its really about oil in the end... Bullish climate for dectectorists that can find gold! We at least have a chance!

That sounds like a good way to get through the Winter Joel! Nice work! :clapping::buds:

Holy Cow Mud!! I thought you said you didn't understand the PM market that well:blink:LOL
You seem to have a good grasp of it IMO..I enjoy your posts and your sense of humor. You sound alot like me. I clean up well but would rather be wallowing in the mud with my detector, sippin some homemade wine while I babysit my smoker and sittin at the bar tellin whoppers! Hold on to them PMs man, the PM train is warming up!

Yeah! I could use some "wallowing around in a bar telling whoppers" time! Yeah, like you, I can operated in the backwoods or the boardroom depending...both equally dangerous, cold, and full of predators..I can smoke in the woods though, so I prefer that...

You watching this PBOC forthcoming gold holding announcement?...should be sometime this month, last time was 2009 and they do it every 5 yrs in Jan..consensus is if they say they have north of 4000 tons, theres a big problem regarding global reserve status of the USD, petrodollar, et. al....some experts figure they could have over 6000 tons, which would foster in a whole new dynamic...anyway, like I said, I have no grasp on what is going to happen, too many variables, but one thing, hang on to PM and get more where you can!

Mud, I haven't seen anything about the gold holdings announcement but Gold is becoming newsworthy again and all the "experts" are predicting gold to move this year. The best advice I ever got about PMs is to put em in the drawer and forget about em. I used to get p@#$ed off watching the market every day but when I found out the whys and hows of the market manipulation, I quit watching. There was a very good story on Infowars yesterday about the PM market. Mind you, I'm not much of a tinfoiler but every now and then they put up a good read. In other news...got mama her ATpro for Christmas and we are both chompin at the bit to get out. I have been playing with the AT and it really is a good machine. Has alot of the features of my Etrac and has found everything in my test garden so I can't wait to see it run for real. I just wish winter would get outta here! I gots to get rid of all this beer wrapped around my waist from hibernation!

I'm not much of a tinhatter either, or a prepper, or a goldbugger, or a bitcoiner, I dont trade the market, have no 401k, no health insurance, but I sure like paying attention to the weather! Just read an article this am, that the US needs to have gold go to at least 5k per to cover our debt. The Chinese may try keep it lower, and have the yuan as the global reserve currency, take out the petrodollar etc. Like everything its all timing and a little luck. Pretty sure having a little PM around wont hurt anybody, and that AtPro is one gold finding rig, and your E is killer on silver, so you guys should come out of what ever happens in good shape!!.

A couple years ago just for kicks, i took around 50 silver coins i found that season to a big coin dealer here just to get an offer. Including a Barber half in great condition, bunch of Barber/Washington Quarters and a whole bunch of Barber and merc dimes, some in great condition.
I realize these places have to make a profit but their offer was ridiculous, not even close to spot value. Just gonna keep all my precious metal finds until it hits the fan, and the way things are going, it will sooner or later.
By the way, if it does hit the fan, brass 'n lead could be even a more valuable hedge than gold if you get my drift...just say'n.

I have made back my losses from PMs in brass and lead. I have a good friend that has an automated reloader and I am still only paying about 40 cents a shot for .223. If you have the means, get stocked up.
