The Child Invasion

So I discovered another park near my home I had no idea existed while on a evening bike ride the other night. I havent done much detecting lately so I took the yeller guy out today and I went to that new park to see what I could find.
As I pulled up to the curb it looked like I had the whole park to myself. But that changed within a half hour. A soccer game began and the park was packed with kids and parents. Pretty soon a young lad about 5 yrs old named Ryan comes over to me and introduced himself asked if he could hang out with me.'"Sure." I said. Thinking to myself Mom will call him over as soon as she shes him talking to a stranger.
When he asked me if I found anything I pulled out a quarter and 2 dimes and some corroded pennies. Bending down to his height I asked him if he would like them. "No." he says placing his small hand on my shoulder "I think you can use it more then I can." All I could do was laugh.
Soon another kid showed up and then another and another, At last count I had 6 children all around me.
They could hear the Ace give off a signal through my tiny earbuds and as soon as a signal sounded 6 tiny heads swarmed over my coil to see what was lurking under it and 12 tiny hands were digging in the sand.
well we ended up with only about a buck but we all decided to give it to one of the kids who was collecting donations for her church for the hurricane victims.

That is really cool the way you quickly turn into the "Pied piper" when you go detecting with kids around. It's funny how a lot of kids perceive us as being "poor". Nice job of donating that dollar to a worthy cause. I'll bet at least 25 people will know that a "detectorist" found the money and donated it, before it reaches it's destination. Great PR job!

WTG! Dang! you and yer yeller feller are nice fellers!
