First thanks goes to "Mart'n The Scoop Guy", a retired welder for using his Honda Mini Van. He was on a mission to get us there safely and get us there FAST! Just a great trip it was. Four good hunting fellers from Alberta, on a trip with great expectations, to put a face to some of the posting detectorists on this forum, and of course to get some great finds!

Here is some of the scenery in the mountains, which was about 9 hours worth of the 12 hour trip from here. We began our trip at 5 am Tuesday Morning.

Of course....as on many trips..."where the heck are we now?"..........We had several stops for food, drinks, smokes and stretches. But......at times not quite sure where we are now or where are period. We eventually made it to our first destination, the ferry, which brought us to beautiful Victoria British Columbia . We even found our temporary home the "SUPER 8" Motel, after going around the block a couple of times. And a good nights sleep followed. :clsoedeyes:

Here is the motley looking crew hard at work. Scott (on the far left) lives out here. He is a regular poster on the Garrett forum and many others. Scott was kind enough to take us to one of his prized hunting spots. It was probably the best hunt we had during the vacation. There were several other detectorists we were supposed to meet up with the following day, but the weather forecast was RAIN RAIN RAIN and more RAIN.
<center>
After hunting with Scott, we headed over to a nearby food place and relished fries, steaks, burgers.....all that authentic cuisine in other parts of the world. Lots of honest conversations crossed the table over grub, and a wonderful time it was. The RAIN had already started, so the post eating hunt was cancelled and we said our goodbyes. Homeward, back to the SUPER 8 we headed.

Here is a pic of Craig's finds. He was learning his new GTI 2500 which he got several days before the trip. He also used his coin vacuum...the "ACE 150" some of the time too for comparison to the 2500. He raked in a darn good hull in the loot department, found the only ring of the trip..a sterling one at that and also a "Crematory Token".....the second of such tokens on the trip. The other one was found by "Mart'n The Scoop Guy"....who hours earlier had found a similar one across the bay, several miles away. We figures that he got soooo spooked finding the first one, that he skipped it across the bay with such force that it eventually was picked up on this side of the bay. Too funny!

Here's your truly......my coin finds from the hunt. I had a technical problem during one of our best land hunts and missed out on some good finds there. This is where Craig found a ring along with one and two dollar coins. Although it wasn't a complete washout for me....I did find one new penny.

We hunted a couple of places that dated back to the late 1700's and I managed some older finds (relics) using the Infinium. This hunt was both a 'Learn Our New Machine" for Craig and myself. he was learning the GTI 2500, myself the Infinium. The Infinium worked well. It found me some old "powder minnies" and some misc. old copper/ brass rivets and old brass shell casings. I also got a reading under a tree in a park dating back to the 1700's. After some careful digging, I retrieved a well used hash/crack pipe. Oh well, it's a keeper just the same.

Here is a pick of my favorites from the trip. I dug what turned out to be an old toy cannon out of the ocean on one of our hunts. After much picking at the sand, packed on like concrete, some freezing episodes and several baths in my ultrasonic cleaner, out came a nice looking cannon. I have no idea as it's age, but a great find to add to my collection. There is also a closeup of my lead "minnies" with a deep hole in the rear of the projectile. Religious medallions are one of my favorites too! Here is a small one, both sides showing. I got this one using the GTI 2500 beside the woods on a large open area.

And as all things in life...they have a beginning and an end. That was the same with our trip home. Four of us shared a solid week metal detecting of detecting in the rain whenever possible. We met some fantastic people, ate some wonderful food and created some wonderful memories to be cherished in the future years. It was quiet all the way home......always nice to some reflecting after such a great experience........
