The Borrowed At Pro nails another one!

lol This is a fun little machine. My second seated dime in my life and both found with the AT Pro and the 5x8 coil. Pro mode, iron disc set at 35, sensitivity 6-bars, GB set 10 points below what it automatically GB'd at. Even though this machine has a fast recovery, I think it is good to point out that I use a Minelab Sov GT sweep speed. For those that are not aware, it is a slow snail pace kind of swing. Slowing down at a sweep speed of this nature, I really hear the high tones "pop out". Thanks for looking and wish you great treasures in the field.

and you can still read the liberty on the sheald , Way to go Jimmy

Congrats on the oldies.

Jim, when you are feeling comfortable about it, give us more details of your hunt! We cant get enough of that you know, especially on those old dimes like that!.:lmfao:..to find one seated is remarkable, to find 2 this close together, well, you evidently have figured out something..other than the slow swing...you hovering the coil or in virgin dirt or heavy trash park or what?... What great finds!:beers:

Great find and excellent detail on the coin. The 5 X 8 makes me slow down. When I get a little tired, I have the tendency with the stock coil to scan to fast. Scanning slow sure produces some good finds that you might miss otherwise.

It is an old forgotten park that is all grown in by mother nature. Been well worked over and not much left. In the 20 hours that I was there (over the last two weekends) climbing hills, trudging through trees, bushes, poison ivy, skeeters, etc. netted me two seated coins. It is fun being out in the fresh air and pouncing around through the park. Although it would be nicer without the ticks and skeeters. HH

Ticks??? I HATE ticks! I turned 21 years old in a local hospital with a fever of 105, thanks to one of them filthy little b@$t@rds. Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.......it sucked!
Anyway, that dime is awesome! Congrats on another fine find

dgruff,

unfortunately if you are in this hobby, ticks are an inevitable part of it. Sorry to hear of your situation with RMSF. How are you feeling these days? I know some that have been messed up for life with what you had. Be safe out there - Jim

Now that is a good lookin' coin in great shape. Old and forgotten - that's my kind of park!

I hven't been bothered by it at all, and it's been 32 years since. I have heard of people having trouble later on with it too...and Lyme's disease...yuck.

Great find, that lady is always welcome in my finds!

Question for you, what does the GB set 10 points below what it automatically GB'd at do?

Thanks!
Brian

I was reading an article published by John - Edmonton. One of the things mentioned in his article was the following:

* To increase the depth/sensitivity to silver targets, lower the ground balanced numbers 10-20 points

The first time out hunting with the AT Pro, I made this adjustment and found a seated dime. Out on my second hunt, I made the same adjustment (10 point drop) in ground balance and found my second seated dime. Had I "automatically ground balanced" and left it where it balances, would I have found these two dimes? There is a good possibility but I am going with the thought presented: Dropping GB by 10-20 points does increase sensitivity / depth towards silver targets. All that I know as I am happy with the end results of setting the AT Pro up in this manner. Best of luck to you - Jim

This theme of ticks and fleas also worries me. Before entering the field to detect spray me with an insect repellent, especially neck, arms and legs, as well as some clothes too, for now it works and I'm not going yellow

That's a beautiful coin and a terrific post. As I'm getting to know my AT Pro that kind of detailed information is invaluable. Thanks for taking the time.
