The blow fly game.

I felt a bit guilty about my last post so I thought I better put up a story. Some may not appreciate this one. If you have a weak stomach it might BUG you a bit :puke:
My older brother Rick and I were pretty creative when trying to entertain ourselves when we were kids. We learned to catch flies off the side of the house in the summer time. we got pretty good at nabbing them in our hand with out killing them. for some reason it was always early in the morning that you could always find a fly or two basking in the sun on the side of the house. My dad had the house painted white and trimmed in black. We would catch one or two and toss them in to a few spider webs over behind the garage. If you were really good at it you could nab as many as three or four flies in the same hand. one at a time. The trick was to open and close your hand fast. It might take four or five minutes to find that many but it was worth the wait when you took them and tossed them into a web all at once. The spider would grab one and wrap it a bit then drag it into its hole and run out and grab another one. We also used to toss them on an ant hill. You had to damage one of the wings a bit so they couldn't fly off. If there were not enough ants about then you would have to stir the ant hill up just a tad. Guess it sounds pretty cruel now.Guess it was pretty cruel.
My older sister had this pink jump rope with white handles it was just like a long hose. ( hollow in the middle) Rubber, plastic? Don't know but it was flexible. you could slide the handles down.there was the hole in the rope/hose. The blow fly game only had two rules. Number one, you could not take the jump rope from your mouth til someone lost the game. Number two, you could not close the hole /opening off with your tongue. Are ya followin' me ? Now comes the fly. ( guess there was a third rule after all,the fly had to be alive) one of us would put the fly in the end of the jump rope and slowly blow him towards the middle of the jump rope. (The jump rope was pink in color but it was clear enough to see through). once the fly was at about the half way mark then the other one of us would put his end of the jump rope to his mouth and we both started to blow at the same time. The looser took the fly in the mouth. Now this took awhile. the tricky part was to inhale through your nose fast because when you stopped blowing, and started inhaling, that fly was coming your way. You had to inhale fast and get back to blowing. You hoped your opponent had to inhale before you did again in order to get that fly back to the half way mark or better yet closer to your opponents mouth. We tried to get each other to laugh to get an advantage. I took a few and Rick took a few. I believe we only did this on one day. One tournament you might say. Yes, It was gross, disgusting, sick, nasty. That was the blow fly game.

We had many, many games when I was a kid.... nothing like that one though!! :):
