I noticed the new larger LI ION battery is now being sold. When I did my field test of the AW2200, I remember some guys saying they would wait for the larger version. The battery is the HP 2900 mAh. It uses the same charger as the AW2200. If you have the AW2200 you can just add a pack. So if you need 20+ hours of run time, now you know.

i ordered one! i have the 2200 and love it so i went after the 2900 battery only. im selling my whites battery and charger combo. never used it anyway

I used my Whites rechargeable packs all the time. They are just a different chemistry. Whites makes a [size=large]quality pack[/size] and charger And their service of them can't be beat.

Your right Rob Whites make a Quality Pack and their service is great...........But your not gonna see that type of Chemistry to much in this day and age!
Not to many Companies use the NiMH technology in much of anything anymore, they have all upgraded to Lithium-ion. (That's What Got Me Started 2 Years Ago)
I believe Whites makes some the best American Made Detectors in the World and all though I know I will never get rich selling our Batt Packs for the Whites Machines I do
think because of what we have contributed to the Whites line of products we have made their machines a little bit better....And that's good enough for me!

well i seen the r&b battery for sale shortly after i bought my detector..i used the whites for a couple times til the r&b got here..got maybe 5 hours or so out of that..went to 2200 battery and 12 to 15 hours constantly...and they wont drop in voltage while sitting for a month or more..always ready to go. so i ordered the 2900 and have the whites up for sale.. i know whites is the best detector company ive delt with..but when i comes to batteries sometimes i stray.lol

My 2900 battery fully charges at 11.80 volts...my 2200 battery charges at 12.40-12.50 volts is this normal?

I'm no battery expert. When I got a 2900 it didn't charge as high as the 2200. Now after a few charges they both charge to 12.51.

The more important number is not voltage but Milli-amp hrs. The voltage is the potential. The mAhrs is the ability to supply the known voltage for a period of time. The higher the rating, the longer the operating time.

Ok it seems to be fine..i drained some voltage from it and recharged it..shows 12.61 volts now
