What seems to be the consensus about making the Sovereign elite lighter.
I lost the use of my shoulder for about a week before I went to the "swingy thing" which seems to work reasonably well.
But I notice that some use a hip mount-- some under the arm--some back pack--and some use a straight rod and move the box to the rear.

i find using the shoulder bag works best for me. the only thing on my shaft is the coil and a meter. i can detect all day without any arm strain at all. get that box off your shaft if your having problems. youll say to yourself why havent i done this already.lol

[attachment 41185 elite.JPG]Chuck, I also have a Elite and I have the box mounted under the arm and I also use a straight rod for better balance. This setup really works well since I use the S12 coil. The meter is also mounted lower for over all balance. Hope that helps.

I had the Sun Ray meter on it too and when set right the detector balances so nice just like yours is set up. The XS felt so light as it was so well balanced, this is the biggest problem with the weight as most are nose heavy which makes the whole detector feel heavy.

I have been using the Swingy-thingy on my EX-2 with the WOT for a couple of months and I really like it.I can hunt all day without coming home with a sore shoulder

A heavy detector and coil you might want to take a look at this device a friend of mine has made up. Also you will find that using a heavy detector and big coil you should definitly use the helper rod, this rod allows you tp push and pull your big coil around with very little wear on your shoulder, Doc has these on his website...The hip stick can be adapted to use with any detector, if you are not using a SD/GP harness a military web belt should suffice...Check it out....They are inexpensive and might just be the ticket for your use...HHH...Geo
