The best aftermarket option for the E-trac

Steve from Ohio

New member
The Best thing to have for your E-trac is a GPS system.

I have a Garmin GPS in my car and it is full of information on where to metal detect.

If I do a search for schools, it gives me every school in the area I am in. II have been able to hit all the schools in my area, even the ones I did not know even existed. Even when traveling, I can find the schools in other areas that I am not familiar with.

If I do a search for parks, it gives me all the state and local parks where I can hunt.

I love it for finding those old almost abandoned cities if I have roads and addresses.

I use it to mark the good areas where I know I need to come back to hunt.

I also use it to find lakes where I can hunt the beaches and swimming areas for my Excalibur.

Before you get a new coil, before you buy anything else for your E-trac, if you want to insure that you will get great finds, get a GPS for your car if you don't have one already.

Hi Steve.....What model do you have?

Thanks................TheMarshall

I always use my Street Pilot 28220...(Garmin) The software is on my computer and I can punch in the locations or do a find and save them and download them to my GPS. I can do it on the GPS directly also, but it is quicker when on the computer when doing major input. Speaking of which, I have all the houses in Columbia SC that are over 100 years old inputted into my GPS.

I am thinking about a hand held, so when I find items in the woods I can mark it.

Yes, I wear a clip-on GPS logger to mark my finds and I also photograph them on the spot which is later combined with the GPS log that I then use to plot exactly, with notes such as the description, conditions, and FE-CO, on my Google maps program on my laptop.

HH,
Marc :usaa:

Do you live near Columbia SC?

Can you send out the list I live in Lexington Sc?

Looking for some hunting buddies.

Brooklyn

I have the Garmin Streetpilot C330 ...I bought it when it first came out. It was almost $700. About a year later, the very same model was $199.00.

It has all the updates and has been very reliable. It's like having a map and a yellow pages in the car.

I use a handheld all the time for hiking and yes finding places to hunt. Never really thought of it as an accessory but now that you mention it, couldn't imagine not having one! Do you think they will be built into detectors someday? Don't see why not!
