I managed to get out two times this week, to what is now a farm field, but used to have a small town on it. It has just been planted, and the soil is very loose and powdery. My first find on day one was the big blue bennington marble. I really like those surface finds. I found 4 marbles these two days. For coins the first day , I recovered 1910, 1911, 1916s, 1918d, 1944 wheaties, along with the 1896 V nickel. Today I went back to the same place, and recovered a couple of memorial pennies, clad dime, and Jefferson nickel for the modern coins. For wheaties today was another 1910, and a 1946. The surprise of the day came after I had given up on a location and had started working my way back to the truck. I had parked in a different place than normal today, so I was crossing an area that I hadn't worked very much in the past. On my way across the field, I got a loud crisp hit. The sound and numbers 12-45 46 said "silver", but I actually thought it was going to be another end of a crushed aluminum can. The first scoop netted nothing but dirt, but a plus, there was no can either. The next scoop was the same as the first, but #3 the target was not in the hole anymore, and no can in sight. I moved some dirt and saw the rim of the dime. Picking it up and checking it, I had my first seated for the year, and the first silver in a month or so. This dime looks like it must have been lost soon after it was put into circulation. That made me a very happy guy!!..Maybe I'm out of that slump now......Not much coin count there, but I am very pleased with everything I found, especially that beautiful seated lady.
