Last nite BadJim and I hit a beanfield where a house used to be, and it was slim pickings for sure, it was like the people who lived there never dropped anything. I don't mean just coins...I mean anything! normally a field site where a house was tore down is FULL of scrap brass, copper all kinds of stuff.
But only 2 keepers........but I am happy with them, 2 shield nickels, one no date and one is 1867
The stuff still might be there. Targets could be deep depending on the till/plow cycle. One year more toward the surface and the next deeper targets. Congrats on the V nickel finds. That is one of my favorite coins and very difficult to find in my area, along with the Barbers.
A nice ten cents indeed..........the dates are so small on them buggers, then add the usual nickel corrosion, and you don't see too many nice dug shield nickels........WTG!!!
