The Barber is a key date ! :thumbup:

So I went at lunch to my local silver dealer and had the silver cross and 1894 Barber with me ( had to show them to the family members I work with) .

My dealer enjoys seeing the items I find as well, and as soon as I told him the date he asked to see it with loop in hand, It is a "O" minted 1894 ( not a coin collector in the true sense, so I didn't know that was a year to watch out for) and there were only 720,000 of these coins minted that year in Naw Lens. So this is my first "O" coin and its a good one.

He also said it would have been better if it was an "S" minted 1894, after looking up the "S" minted coin I see why :rofl: only 24 minted that year :yikes: Now that would have been a real Hell of a start to 2015 :laugh:

Now my nice night turned out to be better then once thought, My silver guy was able to place the sterling cross too, its a rosary bead item.

Now get out there in that cold and get your loot you pirates :detecting: ,

The 1894-O Barber Dime,
720,000 minted.
Good condition, $70.00
VG= $95.00
Fine= $200.00
Extra Fine= $425.00
Near Uncirculated= $600.00
MS-60 Uncirculated= $1,450.00 (MS-60 Uncirculated, No Trace Of Wear, Light Blemishes)
No Proofs were minted of that coin.

The 1894S,
The only production of this coin were "Proof's" and they were only 24 minted. Value of this coin at the time of my retail book (2011) was $1,400,000.00

Your 1894-O is a really good find!
To make the grade of G-4 (good)
Date and letters plain. LIBERTY obliterated.

To make the grade of VG-8 (very good)
Date and letters plain, and some letters visible in LIBERTY

To make the grade of F-12 (fine)
Along with all the above, Letters in LIBERTY visible, though some weak. (Value at this point is $200.00)

Mark

Mark that is good info, thank you.

Yeah those barbers are tiny, and this one saw plenty of circulation before it was lost, so on top small its rather thin too.

My silver guy said that in its present condition he felt it would still be worth $25-30,

I'm just super stoked about finding my second 1800's silver and it being a "O" minted coin . the low mintage is all icing :detecting:
