The At pro ran smooth in the wet ocean sand today.

Ran the pro in pro mode, disc 21, sensitivity 4 to 5 bars.Ground balanced easily and off I went. Did not false at all unless you bumped the coil. Dug quarters, dimes and pennies and a few pull tabs down to 10" in the wet stuff. And I used the 5x8 dd coil.So I was happy. Back to the relic fields this weekend.

Mine runs fine on east coast Florida beaches as well!

I ran mine on the dry sand, wet sand, and even had in in where the waves break over it on the Outer Banks, NC, and it ran perfectly....

Ground balanced fine and only falsed when I bumped it into something and a few times when I was out in the water and a wave broke on it. I have the stock headphones so I had to keep my head above water, but the AT Pro took the dunk test for a week straight... I figured I'd try now sicne it's under warranty. Only thing I did was add a little silicon grease (Trident diver's grease) to the o-rings in the battery compartment, headhpones jack, and coil jack, to make sure that the O-rings were sealed and seated to seal it. Perfect!

Hello George, this is Nick, I met you down on the beach at ocean city! Found many pulltabs and bottle caps while down that way! Still had fun!
Just now signed up to the forum,
Glad to be here,
Nick

Good to hear. I hope to get down to Delaware beaches next week. Sounds like the weather is going to be just great and a few less people!!

I am on the West Coast, and have tried everything to get my ATP to run quietly on the wet sand here. Tried Auto GB, Manual GB, lower Sens. Freq. Shift, nothing seems to work here. So I just surrendered to the chatter. :sadwalk: Looking forward to seeing how it runs in the saltwater waves.

What kind of numbers are you getting on ground balance? Mine runs smooth but we only have moderate to slight black sand levels. I usually lower it to around 10 in the wet sand and 0 to 5 in the drink.

It is usually between14 and 20 in the wet sand. Usually unless I am running Sens at 3 pixels or lower it is chatty.

Try lowering it to around 8 manually and I bet it smooths out some for you. You should also be able to get a little more sensitivity that way.

I will try that Sailorman. I just got back from another trip to the beach, and I learned something. I was not allowing the detector enough time to analyze the ground and adjust. I was letting off as soon as it went somewhat quiet and seemingly evened out, but today I kept pumping a bit longer and noticed the numbers were still changing, just a bit slower and eventually stopped and held steady. After that it ran smooth and quiet on the wet sand!

Hey Nick,
It was a pleasure meeting you. Good luck on your future hunts. George

While I don't have any experience in salt water, I just saw a new video on the Garrett website specifically on the AT Pro working in salt water. See and listen for yourself how well it operates.

hello lightstryder i am on the west coast also and know exactly how you feel there is nothing i can do either, sounds like the beach has quarters and dimes every 2 inches lol.. oh well you win some you lose some

Lightstryder got his working well in the wet sand. What ground balance numbers are you running?
