The Amazing Tesoro Silver uMax:tesoro::usaflag:

I took my newly acquired Tesoro Silver uMax out for its first real test run today at a local school yard. I went over this 40' x 100' area last year. I detected less than 3 hours this morning because the heat became unbearable. My bounty consisted of 43 pennies, 16 quarters, 18 dimes, 16 nickels, 6 keys, a couple of fake rings, a couple of pendants and one large 10K ring. I had the discrimination set at 'iron' and the sensitivity a little past 10.

You can tell from a previous post that I was trilled to have acquired this wonderful detector. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?17,1742819

The Tesoro Silver uMax hits super hard on nickels and gold. I can almost tell with certainty when it's a nickel under the coil by the way the audio sounds.

I really like the way this detector performs. :thumbup: I'll be using this detector a lot.:detecting:

The Tesoro Silver uMax will tell you what's under the ground before you dig with its unique audio tone. A nickel will break up a little when you raise the coil but it will have a stronger and rounder audio tone than a piece of can slaw. The gold ring said dig me! The Silver uMax won't let you pass a gold ring up.:thumbup:

The Silver is much like the Compadre. A surprisingly effective detector for the price. Glad you're enjoying yours.

I know what you're saying. Yes, the Silver uMax is very affordable. It just might be the best detector for the money out there.

I'm enjoying mine immensely. :)

However I must say, it's a surprisingly effective detector at any price.

I have found a golden ring at a beach with my Silver uMax - and before I dug I said to myself: "this is going to be a ring". I was quite surprised when I dug the ring from the rocks and sand:) Then I noticed I was in All metal mode - but anyway, the sound was kind of sweet:) I use 12"x10" SEF exclusively and it works just great. I have some deeper detectors, but this combo is the most versatile/lightest of all.

That's a lot of goodies! Congrats on your silver umax , it's just a outstanding detector!!!

Thanks. I was using my Summertime headphones. The Koss KTXPRO1 Titanium Headphones with Volume Control. They work great!:)

Hi Tabman if you had the choice would you want a compadre or a silver umax? I was set on getting the compadre along with an outlaw but now im wondering about the Silver. Thanks for your time.

If you get the Outlaw, then there's no need to get the Silver

I have a couple extra coils and the compadre or silver would be used for my kids as well as myself. I know there is no ground balance on them but the silver can change coils. The compadre is 12khz and ed180, so if you had to choose in your experience which one would you go with because i would love to get all three but i would like to get the Cazador some day also lol.

Congrats on that great haul! I wish you wouldn't have posted that, because the Silver Umax has been my secret weapon. Now everybody knows! Up to it's depth limit the Silver won't leave anything behind, that's for sure. The audio on the Silver is just plain sweet. Wait until you get in a trashy area, the 8" concentric coil is amazing at seperating the trash from the goodies. It doesn't hurt that this little detector has excellent target separation to boot. I really think the 8" concentric for a coil is overlooked as everyone thinks they need a DD.

One time last fall I thought about you and your dig it all way. I turned the disc down to foil and went to town. Dug three rings, all junkers, and found nickels galore. You are right, it does bang hard on nickels. I was ready to try it again, but the ground froze two days later.

Well im sold on the Silver then. I have only ever used the 8" coils with my water detectors and they are great but i picked up the cleansweep and tbe 10x12 in the fall hoping i might be able to cover more area. First the cleansweep because it wont go as deep then the 10x12 and 8". Im looking forward to it.
