The Ace 250 surprises me again.

Went out this afternoon. Wasn't a very good hunt HOWEVER there was something that surprised me a lot. I got a really nice strong signal that said penny 8". Well I dug down to 8" and didn't find it. The Ace said it was still in the hole and it was still a nice strong signal. Opened up the hole a little wider and still nothing, still in the hole. Dug deeper past 12" , still nothing but I still have a good signal. Was starting to think it was a false signal but I kept digging anyway. Got down to 18" and there she was, a penny so encrusted with junk it looked 4 times it's original thickness. I thought that it must have been a fluke or something because I wouldn't believe that the Ace with the 10 x 14 excelerator coil would go that deep. Then it happened again. This wasn't a penny though. It was some donut looking piece of heavy steel but it was at 18" for sure. I got another good hit and had to dig even deeper. A was down to 22" and was still getting a strong signal but I wasn't sure that I could trust it because the sand was getting really wet that far down. If I had had a regular shovel I probably would have continued a little more but digging that deep with nothing but a scoop isn't that easy especially as hard packed as the sand gets down here. Down that deep its almost like digging through rock. Has anyone else found things so deep with an Ace?

Total found 3 pennies and 1 dime. My buddy found 2 quarters and 2 pennies. The beach is still dead here in Daytona. Hopefully it will heat up soon.

The first day I used my excelerator on inland lake sand I got a penny around 16 inches. Got one of my hunting buds to go with me next day to the same spot and tried to do it again with seeded coins with no luck. Couldn't get signal any deeper than 10 or so inches. We tried everything with no luck. I thought it may been a mistake the first time but now I don't know. Took it out again today and found some clad but none really deep. I love the coil except it loves bottle caps. Can't figure out a way to identify without digging so that's what I do.

Gold rings are that deep. Gold will always keep going deeper until something stops it, like clay,or rock. good hunting!

I've pulled quarters at ten inches in bark chips with the stock coil. The little booger will surprise you especially with that big, honking, coil.

You're lucky you got a signal. Freshly buried coins are difficult and often impossible to detect due to an effect known as "Metallurgical Phenomenon."
