The Ace 250 and gold

pulltabMiner

New member
I recently sold my Ace 250 and this got me to thinking about the good ol' days when me and the Yellow Wonder tore through our city parks.

I didn't know at the time how unusual it is that to the Ace 250, a lot of gold sounds like a 1 cent coin (giving the bell tone/high tone)

I hunted only on the Jewelry mode with sensitivity set to 1 below max with the 6x9 coil.

Here is a small gallery of the gold items that gave a 1 cent/bell tone signal (not pictured are very many gold plated rings and chains)

The only time I got a pull tab reading for a gold ring on the 250, it was for this tiny 10K baby ring

The ace250 did you good with the gold finds for sure , you might need to buy yourself another one, nice rings !

Good looking rings. Bet you are thinking about getting another Ace250.
Does what you replaced it with do as well on gold ? Just wondering.
Good hunting to you !

I replaced the 250 with the AT Pro. Now, I know the AT Pro is a killer on rings and I found my share of plated gold rings with it but I had to dig an awful lot of pull tabs to get even those plated rings. The Ace 250 made it much easier to find the gold without having to dig tons of pull tabs and foil. I am sure I passed up some gold by not digging pull tabs and foil but all in all, I still consider my 250 the best gold machine!

I swing a V3i now as well, and no, the V3i has not yet come close to surpassing the 250 as a gold machine.

If my two boys develop a greater interest in the hobby, I see buying two Ace 250's in the future for sure.
