The 8 1/2 x 11 coil feels like a monster

I have been used to swinging the 5 x 8 coil for a long time now, but today I was getting hits of 84 to 87 to 90 and after digging a hole that the pin pointer Garrett carrot went all the way into and still only a small beep, I gave up. The Garrett carrot is 9 inches long and it was below the surface of the ground. I sure will be happy when the 5x8 comes in.

Odd post. So you're saying you don't want to dig deep or your pinpointer isn't working right?

Everything is working right but after digging 10 inches on a target and still only getting a small signal from my pin pointer at that depth I gave up.

I've dug down nearly two feet on an iron signal thinking artillery shell or frag. Turns out just a big piece of iron. I'd go back if I were you and find out, if only for piece of mind, to see what it is. I also went back days later on a signal I left, at good depth too... it was a piece of junk, but thinking what the possibilities could've been, I had to go back and find out. Dig those deep signals! BTW, I've been swinging the Detech Ultimate 13 coil...no problem. Good luck hunting.

If your using the ATMax then I would dig til you find target. I'm digging 12" on many targets like 12 ga shells, buttons, nickels, washers, bullets etc. Nickels gave a solid dig me tone at 11, the couple I dug at 12 were with other coins in hole...

Yes I should go back to see what it was. I know at the depth I was at it might be something really nice with the reading I had.
One of my friends swears by the Detech Ultimate 13 coil. He says it is the best coil he has ever used. He used it so much it went out on him, but he had another one at home just in case that happened.HH
