The 500th nickel rose during one wild hunt.

Well-known member
Only had 2hours to hunt before having to get back for the games. Decided to hunt the Pro in a old little league outfield, before working the sides with a sniper coil. Running the Pro at zero/40 dis/ all but 2 bars of sens. Well first 3 targets- junk. Little later deep crazy signal - cheap Reg. Medal. Than a long area of corruption buried pretty deep. So next yanked out a very deep 1920 Wheatback. This signal wouldn't settle either. Times running out ,picked off a 5 dime spill about 5 " Along came 3 black quarter's real close. More junk, than a crazy signal settling around 67. So I dig a plug, nothing. Dig deeper , now past the hilt, up jumps the Hamilton I been looking for! Number 500 a 1954. Looks to have been trapped down there for awhile. That last one was hard passing, so to say. Had a little time left to work the concession/ outhouse line. First up a few quarter's surface drops, then a 1918 silver Merk. That's about my 4- 5th silver coin I've blundered into this year. There's still got to be a lot of Silver around if I still get a few. Cause I don't target them.

Congratulations! Outstanding work all season on your Nickel Quest! You had a decent year on it, 5gold rings and some silver coins along the way is just perfect!:please::beers:

Congrats to you, sir! I know you've been working hard for it, for some time. So, have you got a new quest in mind?

:clapping: Outstanding Dancer, :clapping:glad it didn't go down to the Dec. 31st wire. And congrats on "blundering" into the '18 Merc too!!:bouncy:

That's a lot nickels, Dancer, good job digging them. To get that many, you have dug a slew tab rings and tab tails, no doubt. HH jim tn

You've had a great year and it isn't over yet, Dancer. Congratulations & HH. I'd love to blunder into a mercury dime like that.

Well, I had my doubts that you would make your goal when you first posted. Guess I was wrong. CONGRATULATIONS!
I have to believe you are one of the obsessive, compulsive searchers when it comes to metal detecting.
Just wondering...did you keep track of the number of hours detecting to unearth the 500th?
Don't you just love the ATPro?

When I hunt it's usually for 2-3 hrs. At least 3-5 times a week . What I don't keep track of is the gas money. Hunting 4 tools this year.

Infinium got 209 nickels
Pro 167
250 Ace & Torsoro C ompadre the rest.

The Inf has a lot less total coins than the others, due to where I can hunt it. But it's averaging about 25% nickels. Not much water hunting but going to Panama City Beach this Jan & Feb.
It will be going head to head with the AT Pro
And how was your summer ? Hope you got some nice ones with that ATX. !!
