The 1236-X2 - whats the point?

Now that Fisher has come out with it's vast "F" series of detectors, what is keeping the 1236 in the lineup. There is nothing wrong with the detector as far as I can determine, and I will happily buy one if someone is willing to part with one at the right price.
But with all the features of the F2/F5 model, what is holding the 1236 in the lineup?

That's the point. The 1236X2 is about performance, not a bunch of features that many would not use or want.

I you haven't done so already, read Ben Meyers field test on the Fisher website! I have easily put over two thousand plus hours on the 1236X2 and can attest to the veracity of his report. I'd put a 1236X2 up against ANY Tesoro in heavy iron for "see thru" and be willing to bet on the outcome!!

Thanks for that Jackpine, er Mr. Savage
I used to have a Fisher 1266-X and I liked it pretty good. I was remiiscing about it the other day and recalled the 1236-X is still around as a new model. SO... I was just wondering. Thanks for the input.
Im curious, though - how do you know how many hours you have on your detector?

Starting the summer of 2000 and thru 2002 I hunted 4-5 times a week from spring to fall. One of those years we had 60 degree days thru the middle of December. Soo... 2000 + hours Yeah easy!! I did spend some time with a couple others also... Tesoro LST, CZ-5 and a couple others I would like to forget! But the 1236 was my main machine.

Thanks, Tom!

User friendly, nice price range and works kind of nails it down. I have read where some used on saltwater shores and worked well but never did myself so can't confirm..
