The 10x12 SEF Made Me Cry Uncle

4 hours and 65 sinkers later beat me up. No gold or silver today but I'll say one thing...this 10x12 isn't coming off my GT for wet/dry sand hunting.

It hits tiny copper rivets and dimes as loud as it does the lead. My hunting buddy has a lot of experience with the GT and by-passes the sinkers. I was reluctant to do that because many of the signals were sharp and narrow like a good target, so I dug them all.

Used the 15x12 for 20 minutes yesterday and it isn't for me. Great coil for hunting the fields, which I don't do. Posted it in the Classifieds, ( great buy ). Thanks for looking...

Frank that many sinkers is absurd lol you,ll pay tonight ouch but great coil ha? imagine being on a 100 year old virgin beach with that thing :detecting: Great hunt Jim

You'd think there would be some gold in the area with all those lead fishing weights. Were all the sinkers in one spot or just everywhere? I agree, the 12x10 I put on my Excal is one awesome coil ! Have one for my Explorer but haven't used it much yet. Good hunting, Joe.

You'll get used to the more sharp response on targets and re-scale things in your head as to judge size. But hey, keep digging sinkers like that and you're still striking gold. Google up the latest scrap weight prices on lead. It's paying a really good buck these days, where as about 10 or so years ago you couldn't give away a car battery. Now I think I heard they buy them for $20 scrap weight, or if I didn't hear that right at least $10.

Or, flip side of the coin...You've got your share of lifetime stock for sinkers used for catfishing. Seriously, I'd often rig that heavy of a sinker for very long casts night fishing for cats. I tie a swivel on the line so the sinker allows the line to slip through when the cat runs with it so they don't feel the weight. Also great for fishing stronger currents for them even if not needing to cast far.

They were all over. I know there has to be gold there also, just have to dig through the lead to find some. Many gold rings have been found further down the beach and hunters shy away from this spot because of the sinkers.

On a high note, I dug so many clams that I opened about a dozen and was eating them. Had I brought a knife, my lead count would have been way down because I would have been eating a lot more clams.

Frank i always kept a couple of clam knifes on my 21 footer i would run it into the shallow,s the eel grass and foot clam i had a bottle of hot sauce on the boat yumm . Lead sinkers mean fisherman they cast out and lose those rings over the years i bet there is lots in the water . Jim
