That little Compadre ...

Went out tonight with the Compadre for a little bit this afternoon.

First time really using it. I found the usual junk and a nice
Craftsman box opener.

I was surprised how deep the Compadre was hitting. My setting was
just above Iron and below foil. One thing about these dig and beep
machines ...it talkes some getting used too as all the tones sounded
the same. I would thumb up and down to get an idea of what the
target was but all the sounds are the same.

I'm thinking that when I do "tot lots" or areas with trash that I might
just "cherry pick first" for coins and then clean up the trash later.
Dugs so much trash I felt like I was working for the park commission.

For another land detector, I'm leaning towards the Golden. I'm not
crazy about wanting to dig to China and the tones would be nice to
give me an idea of what I may be digging.

In the end .. I'll land up with (3) detectors,

My tot lot detector - Compadre
Bigger areas on land - (perhaps Golden)
Fresh Water - Tiger shark and that should cover all the bases.

When taking the Compadre to the tot lots make sure to use low discrimination, there is not a piece of jewelry, gold chain, etc. that can escape the Compadre. It is just amazing the things that little beauty can find. I have used most Tesoro models and love em all but that Compadre is extra fun.

Some of the "trash" I found with my Compadre between iron and foil...

You will if you put your time in.. And remember its about nature and the great outdoors.. That even makes your finds more fun..

Wow! ..very nice.

I can't wait till I find something like that.
Has to be a real rush!

You should see the trash I usually dig to get this type of treasure, especially teeny tiny little bits of foil down near iron...I could build a Thanksgiving day float.
I can tell a lot of the times that trash is trash, there really is a slight difference in that one tone between good and bad targets, but you never really know till you dig it.

It can seem like a drag, sometimes, but once you dig up something shiny silver or gold, it all magically becomes worth it.

Yeah, you have to really go by what the SIZE of the target sounds like with this little bugger. Even then it could be the holder for a gold stick pin. I keep telling myself whenever I come back to these sites, at least the trash will be cleaned out.
