Thanksgiving came early for me...

...and I'm giving thanks for Whites craftsmanship. Yes, Whites came through for me, once again, and this time the quality they put into their product saved me from my own stupidity. I digress...
Monday afternoon/eve I came home from a hunt feeling pretty good (found some silver) but, life being what it is, I jumped right into chores and cooking dinner for my children and I. Fast forward to Tuesday a.m. I look out my back door to check and see if the rain has come as predicted and get the shock of my life....there.. in the rain...completely drenched and dripping water..MY MXT !!!!!! :surprised:
I had left it leaning against a railing, with my pro-gold HP's and DX-1, all night in the drizzling rain. My heart sank as I was certain I had killed my friend.:angel:I suppressed the rising panic and realized this is a Whites and if any machine can recover from this type of treatment a Whites can. :stretcher: I first fought the urge to quickly turn on the machine to check for vitals since I figured that would finish it off if it wasn't gone already. I had a baggie on the screen pod for protection so I pulled that off first to let the condensation escape. I quickly dried off the entire machine, pulled the battery pack out and removed the batteries...moisture INSIDE the battery case ! Not good. I then undid all connections. Lastly, I pinned the control box door open (it was wet inside), set a small fan on low heat behind it and asked for one big favor from the universe. 5 hours later I put it all back together and took it out to check, hoping for the best. Long story just a little shorter...It worked GREAT !!! All systems checked out fine with both the MXT, DX-1 and my Pro-Gold HP's. I even pulled a small copper piece (considerably smaller than a penny) from an honest 6+" with my 6x10 coil...very good sign ! Thanks again to Whites for their remarkable products. Remember, if something similar ever happens to your Whites machine...you have hope...it's a Whites.:jump::clap:
As for you people wondering how I could have been so dumb....I have two teenagers and am no longer responsible for my actions.

You did good accidents do happen and its easy to get side tracked . With that said you did just the right thing by drying it out before trying to turn it on . It surly would have shorted out if you had turned it on while it was still wet . Congrats on saving your detector and to you for doing the right thing to save it .
