Yesterday jb agreed to meet me and allow me to listen to his machine and follow him while he worked an old park. I bought a "Y" adapter at Rad Shak for about $8. He plugged the adapter into his machine and we both plugged our headphones into the "Y". Off he went and because the cord is 3' long, it mostly kept me out of the way and all he had to do was answer hundreds of questions like, "why didn't you dig that one?" For a beginner with the ML that sure made a major difference to me. If you are a newbie and can meet someone on here as nice as jb and they are willing to do a bit of teaching, it will really help. Following him and watching how and what he dug, for about 3 hours. was probably worth 100 hours of solo time learning by trial and error. I still hope we can stir up enough interest to ask the GUV to create a helper forum where folks can sign up and list their location if they're willing to help others. I'll return the favor that jb started with me for others if/when I get better. This is particularly helpful for folks who live in a rural area and it's a 2 hour drive to join a club and get help from the members there. THANKS jb!!!:clapping:

It's always nice to hook with someone from the forum and meet face to face to check out and hunt together for a change. Not sure I did you any good but it was a beautiful day and I for one really enjoyed it. Got back about 5:30 pitch dark and ate dinner then crashed and burned. Long drive, good day, good hunting and very nice to meet you Jim. Maybe time permitting I can make a trip South to your neck of the woods.

Having someone do a hands-on especially with a MD is a very valuable tool. I know I learn much better when someone shows me so I can see it visually. So when we're talking about a hands on with a ML that is worth it's weight in gold!
