I have been a member of Findmall for many years but haven't been on here for quite awhile. I have always come here when I have been looking for info on a new detector as I have always found that it's the best source on the net to get straight up info from lots of straight up folks!

My son who is in his mid forties decided that he would like to start detecting with me so I came here to check out a Garrett AT Pro. I was once again amazed at all the info available here from posters. I went through all of the the over 100+ pages of posts and decided the AT Pro was what I wanted to get him for Christmas. I already have 7 detectors of my own but decided that the best way to teach my son how to use his new AT Pro would be th have one for myself also. ( The wife bought that reasoning, Ha-Ha). We now have the new Garretts and my initial testing looks REAL good. I just ordered a Garrett pinpointer, a 5X8 DD coil and cover and a bolt set plus a lower shaft for the smaller DD coil.

Just a little more about myself. I live in central Wisconsin and have I've been detecting hard since 1998. I hunt mostly in Wisconsin but have made 14 trips to Northern Virginia to hunt civil war camps and done well.

Welcome to the forum. I just got my 5x8 DD coil today and can't wait to try it.
 
I'M BRAND NEW TO METAL DETECTING SO ALL INFO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. I BOUGHT THE GARRETT AT-PRO. SO FAR I'M FINDING JUNK. BUT THAT IS TEACHING ME THE DIFFERENCE IN SOUNDS AND READING THE DISPLAY. I HAVE WATCHED SEVERAL VIDEOS ON THE AT-PRO. THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL, ESPECIALLY THE HOW TO VIDEOS. I AM OPEN TO ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS AND TIPS.
