Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has been posting about their Enfields.

Over the last few weeks, I have gleaned excellent information from you all before I tackled this job, along with some research on other forums..
I have admired the finished results shown here.

I have been thrilled with the progress on my two guns. They came in pretty good overall condition, except for missing butt plates.(repros were included). Most of the screws came out easily after a shot of WD40 overnight.
I decided on a less harsh approach for cleaning, and denatured alcohol and 000 3M pads worked quite well, leaving some of the darker marks after light rubbing. It also cleaned up the brass pieces easily. Qtips and wooden tooth picks get in those tight spots nicely.

I'm doing a second soaking in WD40 of all metal pieces after an overnight soaking and a light wiping with 0000 steel wool. The gunk came off nicely. I plan to do the stocks in TRU gun stock oil, as it seemed this left a nice, aged looking finish. Then everything is getting a Renassiance wax coating.
This has been a real thrill to restore a piece of history. Thanks again, Vern.

I am mainly a lurker, and have no clue how to post pics, but there have already been some very nice ones here. The only downside to this project was taking away my weekend MD'ing.

Posting pictures is a lot easier than cleaning yak grease. Just get them on your desk top and pick them up for posting from there.

Heres'a couple more photo's of mine ~ If I had the money, I'd get another one.
