I just got back from a weekend hunt with Nancy and Larry. My wife (Paulette) and I cannot thank them enough for the great time we had. We would have had a wonderful time even if we didn't find any coins. We met some really great people. There were V3's and MXT's and both detectors did themselves proud. First let me say that Larry skunked us all, check out his finds on the V3 forum.

My pictures aren't very good and the coins aren't clean yet but you've all seen these kinds of coins before. I got 3 silver dimes, 42, 46, and 48. The big trick for the MXT was getting all the War nickel years in one weekend. I got a 42, 3 - 43's, 44, and 2 - 45's. Also there is a 40, a 42 non war nickel, and two 46's. I also got the scout knife, pin, and COOL Order of the Arrow sterling ring. I also got 12 wheats with the oldest being a 26.

The other picture is some of my other loot and clad. I was using my MXT and the 10" Excelerator coil. I got a DX1 pinpointer from Larry and all I can say is boy is it easier finding those coins. Nancy I wish I had got more of your chili. Rob

Now that looks like you guys had a great hunt. Wow all the silver war nickels and dimes. I wish I had been there to join in the fun. HH Dennis in Idaho

Hey Rob did you get a chance to use Larry's 10x12 SEF? I thought you had a DX1 pinpointer. I guess you will be getting one huh.... HH Dennis in Idaho

I did. I found that the weight and balance was fine for me. It ran quiet and I was pinpointing right on from the first swing. The problem was while I had it on the MXT, the finds I got were in the range of my 10". I'm not saying the 10x12 isn't deeper, Larry is sure it is. As I said before, he showed everyone how it should be done, HA HA.

I'd like to get the coil, but the only reason for me would be that little more depth. I'd like to compare it to the 10" on some deep signals. I'd like to put the 10x12 on find a deep signal and then see if the 10" could see it. Man the MXT dug some deep coins this weekend. The ground was moist and I didn't have to worry about the EMI. I ran it wide open, disc at 1 or 2 and it ran smooooth with the 10". I got a couple at 10". Rob

They just got home and had a long weekend. Give them some time you will be jealous. Rob

Great finds Rob, sounds like you had a fantastic time. ................:clapping:........Larry and Nancy are good people, I bet they made you feel right at home....

I'll say this for the last time, they really know how to treat people, even their dog is nice, ha ha. Rob

I'm going to start mine in just a little bit Fred. I have to photo shop my pictures to make it look like I have a lot more than I do...... If you take away my four silvers in the same hole, Rob and I was pretty close on finds I think.

And I also have to say that Rob & Paulette are super people and it was as though we had been friends for years. Thank you!

A huge congratulations on the war nickel set. He didn't tell you, but he found a treasure hole of 2 war nickles and 2 wheats. :surprised: Some people have all the luck. I am still in awe with all the super finds this weekend. Rob, I tried to find information on your Arrow of Light sterling ring, but came up empty. I'll try to dig a little deeper. Let me know if you find out any info.

Oh about the chili. You had to bring that up didn't you . Guess you're not going to let me live that one down. At least we didn't starve.....close, but didn't.

I did get out for a couple short hunts and found a 64 Rosie and a 54 Wheat cent. Not much, but I had a blast! Meeting new people and enjoying the great outdoors......Priceless. The ground was perfect for digging. The weather was typical Illinois weather. Rain one minute, sun shining the next. But in all, it turned out to be mighty good hunting.

I know Larry had a great weekend of hunting with you also. We'll have to do that again. Glad you had a good time and got to use that MXT to kick butt!!!!! I have NEVER seen so many war nickels in one place. IMPRESSIVE! Gotta love that MXT.

HH to all,
Nancy

Trust me Rob, the pleasure was all ours..we had a great time. It just doesn't get much better than last weekend. Hunting by day and sitting around the fire at night trading stories, sipping on a few and a HALF bowl of chili in the chill of the evening air. :poke:

Congratulations on the Order of the Arrow ring Rob..That is a beautiful find..............or as Nancy would say...Arrow of light ring....

A few more pictures of the weekend. Our digger wasn't working too good but I think he had as good of a time as we did.

A picture of Rob and I working a field where archery lessons were given. This camp goes back to at least the 1930's. Nancy and Paulette were running a little behind on getting the wood split for the night which put them both behind on getting our supper cooked too, but Rob and I didn't mind much because we got to hunt until dark.

Looking at Larry's photos of his finds I would say he whooped ya Rob. But I can't help but wonder how much more he would have found if he was using Nancy's MXT... HH Dennis in Idaho

He whooped everyone not just me. I'll send you a PM. Rob
