We attended a Minelab Canada event in Toronto yesterday

The location was an amazing Beach and Park and we received these items just for attending:)

I applaud them for a Great effort at their First Annual Metal Detecting Day

I am so glad you had a good time, would have loved to gone to the Chicago show but was not able, one of our club mates, Dayton Diggers, won an E-Trac!

Thanks pistolpete for putting new bolts on my Anderson travel rod. Thanks Minelab for the awesome prizes.. I won the E-Trac!

That's me!

I really wanted to go to the event in Chicago but was unable to attend last minute. Congrats on the win. I heard someone won a GPX5000. That would be my dream come true as I have been wanting to try one of those out really badly. Congrats on the E-Trac though, that's awesome. Did you already own an E-Trac or is this a new world for you? HH -Marc

I only started detecting last August (bought a used White's M6 off some dude on craigslist), and Jan - March I was water hunting in South Africa with a White's Dual Field and Beach Hunter ID300. I have been very lucky as a n00b - 7 gold rings in parks last year and over 100grams of 9ct gold in the water in SA.

I have no Minelab experience at all. I haven't been out with the e-trac yet, but I have read the manual 3 times and watched a ton of youtube videos in preparation.

I am a little concerned about one video I saw that shows the e-trac not being able to see Canadian clad:

But I imagine there are workarounds for this, right?

Congratulations on some nice prizes Eva! Thanks for keeping everything connected.

Try contacting Minelab Canada as they should be able to help you with a disc pattern for that I would think. Unfortunately your clad coins are primarily steel and that falls deep into the ferrous region which in most cases is an unwanted target. Thus its discriminated out. You could set the E-Trac in learn mode and collect all the clad coins you can find and run them over the coil flat and on edge and the machine will accept the reading in the disc pattern.
