Thanks from an AT newbie!

Greetings from Wisconsin!

I bought an AT Pro from Big Boys Hobbies in February. (Thanks Bart) I have read the manual front to back, at least the English part. I've watched all the Garrett videos, and I've been lurking on this forum for a few months.

Today was a 3 silver day!! Two Barbers and a Merc...But I still have lot's of questions on this AT Pro.

Thanks to all who post here...without you posting on this forum, I would be still diggin' slaw.

Two Barbers and a Merc-- sounds like we'll be asking you the questions :clapping:

I was hunting an old park. The pennies came from one hole, wheats and a couple Indians. The dimes were from 3 separate holes.

I have about a hundred hours on this machine, and I started digging the high tone chirps, even if there was iron grunt mixed in...everything was about the same depth as the Pro Pointer is long. VDI's were all over the place, maybe because the site is pretty trashy.

Congrats!

I started hunting this park using the standard coin mode. I found all clad. I then went to pro coin mode, and found one shallow silver, but lots of wheats and Indians.

For the past couple days, I switched to Pro Zero, iron discrimination at 20. I do the auto ground balance that sets it usually to 80 in this park. I then manually drop it down to 75 and start hunting. Now, I'm finding silver...7 in two days. They've all been 6 inches or more down.

The area is pretty trashy, with lots of nails and can slaw. I dig the high tones, and get a fair amount of bottle caps. I can hear the different tone the slaw makes, but the caps still get me.

I hear you re: bottlecaps! The only thing that makes me feel a bit better is that I've started getting more into recycling, so at least I'm getting some gas money outta those little suckers!!

You have to show me your ways! I also have an ATpro and live in La Crosse Wisconsin and I haven't gotten the hang of mine yet :/ Plus I know no one else that is willing to devote a whole day to metal detecting. I have to spare ace250's and I bring friends along and they're tuckered out after hardly half an hour. Just add me on facebook, Dale Westaby

Thanks, everyone.

@ Dale...I'm near Richland Center. I don't know if you'd learn anything from me, though. No silver in today's 90 minute hunt...just a memorial, a wheat, and an Indian. Must have been beginner's luck.
