Just wanted to join others who have thanked the "regulars" for posting such informative information about the MXT. When trying to decide on a metal detector, I started with this forum. As a result I bought an MXT. I dug around through many of the posts here and they reduced the slope of the learning curve substantially. As a result of all the good information and a bit of practice, last weekend I hunted in a grass strip next to a street at my mother-in-laws house in Seattle. It was not a very large area (about 200 sf), but over the course of the day I found my first silver coins, a 1917 Mercury dime, and a 1900 silver quarter. I also found 14 wheat pennies, most dating between 1920 and 1930, along with old arcade and tax tokens. It was great!

HH,
Steve

P.S. For those who care. Soil mineralization was between 75 and 80. I locked GB and used relic mode to find the coins (much less noise) then switched to coin/jewelry to try and ID. Coins were all 4-6 inches deep. Used White's Eclipse DD coil.

Steve,
The MXT is a very no nonsense, easy detector to learn and use. You will have a ton of fun with it. I see you already have found out that in "RELIC" mode, the unit is less chattery and more stable. A detector is only as good as the operator handling it and I see your well on your way to becoming an expert with the MXT. Good luck!

In a short time you won't switch to C/J to ID. I don't pay attention to the symbols and words, just the numbers and bars. Rob
